Which States Will Vote On Marijuana Legalization In 2016?

The 2016 Election is not that far away, especially for campaigns. Signature deadlines vary across the country, but they will be up sooner than later. Campaigns are working very hard to get marijuana legalization on the ballot in many states, some having better chances than others of making it on the ballot. I was hopeful that over a dozen states would make the ballot in 2016, and maybe there will be some significant changes that help some states catch up. But for now, below are the states that I feel will make the ballot, and in the case of Nevada, already have made the ballot:

Nevada Senator speaks out against how NSAC handled Nick Diaz’s suspension

Nevada State Athletic Commission’s suspension of Nick Diaz is not going unnoticed as everybody from Ronda Rousey to Katt Williams have spoken out against the punishment. Diaz tested positive for marijuana in one of his three drug tests at UFC 183 and is being forced to sit on the sidelines for five years. The fans have spoken and started apetition to lift the ban and with only fifty-thousand signatures remaining, the powers that be at the White House might just have to address the situation.

Weekly US Cannabis Spot Price Index

U.S. Cannabis Benchmark Spot Index down 9% to $1,948 as harvest begins. The national price decreased by $185 per pound week-on-week, after reaching $2,133 last week, in what currently appears to have been the seasonal peak.

The fall harvest season has begun. Depending on local climate and the strains being grown, outdoor growers will generally harvest from mid-September to mid-November. Kushes and other indica-dominant strains are ready for harvest earlier, while sativa-dominant varieties require more time to mature if they are to be considered high-quality and exhibit fully the characteristics desired by consumers.

Ronda Rousey says fighters shouldn't be tested for marijuana in explosive press conference

The Nevada State Athletic Commission gave Nick Diaz a five-year suspension after testing positive for marijuana use in January, which could end the 32-year-old fighter’s career (but is lighter than the lifetime ban the commission originally wanted). Diaz’s positive test was the third in his career, and after Diaz’s hearing he called the NSAC “a bunch of crooks.”

During a press conference for her upcoming bout with Holly Holm, Ronda Rousey defended Nick Diaz and destroyed the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s policy on drug use.

Tourists can now purchase medical marijuana in Las Vegas -- is recreational next?

It's been 15 years since Nevada voters approved a ballot measure legalizing medical marijuana in the state, but it wasn't until August 24 that the first dispensary opened its doors in Clark County.

"We've been so busy, there are lines around the corner at some times of the day," said Euphoria Wellness Managing Director Darlene Purdy.

Located in southwest Las Vegas, the dispensary has seen more than 100 patients per day, according to Purdy, some of whom have been emotional about finally being able to purchase their medicine legally.

"Patients are so happy," Purdy said. "Some people have been waiting 15 years for this."
