New medical marijuana business holds open house

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - A new medical marijuana business held an open house Friday evening.

Oasis Medical Cannabis is located on Industrial Road, just south of Wyoming Avenue. The open house also included a fundraiser for the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada.

The open house allowed members of the public to tour the facilities. Medical marijuana patients with valid cards will be only let in after the dispensary opens.

Oasis has a few more hoops to jump through before they can open next week. They have inspections from the state and the city. Once they get the green light, they can get the product and start selling to patients.

EDITORIAL: Marijuana should be removed from Schedule I list

With February's Nevada caucuses fast approaching, the Review-Journal is publishing a 10-editorial series on policies and government reforms all candidates should be able to get behind. The fifth policy goal we'd like all presidential candidates to champion: removing marijuana from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act.

Marijuana laws are among the most perplexing laws in the nation. While federal law bans any and all uses of the drug, many states allow the possession, production and use of marijuana for medical purposes. Meanwhile, since the federal government argues that federal law trumps state law, the federal government can, in theory, prohibit the use of marijuana anywhere it wants to, and the states can't do anything about it.

Medical Marijuana tourism taken to the streets with 420 Tours

LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) – It’s taken 15 years, but one-by-one medical marijuana businesses are opening across the valley, giving patients more access to the drug.

Four dispensaries are doing business now and a fifth will open in January. The promise of more storefronts is spawning business of another kind, catering to tourists. Now, instead of taking a tour of the Hoover Dam or up and down the Las Vegas Strip, tourists can stop at medical marijuana locations across Clark County.

Medical Marijuana Tour Promoters are now looking for business, decked out in bright green vests.
The 420 Tours began rolling about a month ago, driving patients from one medical marijuana dispensary to the next.

MJ Business Conference brings Cannabis to Las Vegas

With 230 plus booths spread across two large exhibit halls in the belly of the Rio Casino last week the thousands of attendees to the fourth annual Marijuana Business Conference and Expo had a lot to take in. Traditional cannabis-associated products such as vaporizers and glass art made way for the wide array of businesses such as extract machines and plug-and-play grow systems in a realm keynote speaker Ralph Nader called a new “subeconomy.”

The next 8 states that could legalize weed within the year

Beginning in 2012, four states and the District of Columbia have voted to legalize marijuana. By this time next year, that number could well double, and then some. National polls consistently show majorities in favor of legalization, with a recent Gallup poll showing 58% support—tied for the highest level in the poll’s history.

That doesn’t mean legalization is inevitable in any given state, as the case of Ohio demonstrated earlier this month. There an initiative led by non-movement investors who sought monopolistic control of commercial pot cultivation got trounced despite spending millions of dollars.

Medical marijuana dispensary features free delivery service

LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) – Fifteen years after Nevada voters approved legalizing medical marijuana and three months after the first dispensary opened for business in Las Vegas, patients can now get medicine delivered to their doorstep.

Euphoria Wellness started free home deliveries throughout the Las Vegas Valley early Friday. However, that new service still has competition with illegal delivery services that are often advertised on the Internet.

“When you deal with [those] delivery services, you don’t know what you’re getting,” said Edward Eng, who has had bad experiences with those services before.

That’s where Euphoria Wellness hopes to capitalize, offering free delivery services throughout the valley.

The 2015 Marijuana Business Conference And Expo Was Amazing

I was lucky enough to attend the 2015 Marijuana Business Conference and Expo in Las Vegas this week, hosted by Marijuana Business Daily. There has literally never been an industry gathering of this magnitude ever, and I was happy to be able to go to it. I don’t get out to events that often, especially industry events, but this was one that I couldn’t pass up. I attended the first one of these events in 2012, and it’s mind blowing to see how much it has grown over the years.
