Pre-License Inspection For Kincardine Medical Marijuana Facility

The president of Supreme Pharmaceuticals says the pre-license inspection of their proposed medical marijuana growing facility in Kincardine went well.

John Fowler says if all goes as expected, they could receive their license early in the New Year.

He says a very thorough and detailed inspection took place Wednesday

“I would say primarily they’re looking for security features to make sure the site doesn’t represent a threat to the employees, to the security of the produce we hope to produce in the future, or to any of the stakeholders such as community members,” says Fowler.

He says a license would also mean they would likely need to hire more staff.

GGS Launches New Division to Assist Governments in Developing Standards for Cannabis Cultivation

From their factory in Ontario Canada, GGS Structures President, Leigh Coulter has announced the formation of a new division to help governmental agencies develop standards for cannabis cultivation. “While Colorado has done a tremendous job of showing the world that a legal, regulated, cannabis industry is socially viable and economically beneficial, the recent surge of pesticide problems has brought to light a significant gap in their regulatory standards for plant cultivation.” stated Ms. Coulter “As more countries around the world move towards developing a legal, regulated, cannabis industry, there is a clear and present need for knowledgable assistance in understanding how to build quality control at every stage of plant growth.”

Pot legalization: ‘We never hear the downside’

Marijuana is going to be legalized.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s speech from the throne, read Friday by Gov. General David Johnston, said the Liberal government would introduce legislation that will “legalize, regulate and restrict access to marijuana.”

But before you run to the nearest dispensary and buy a dime-bag of their finest ganja, maybe it’s time to step back and evaluate the downside of the drug.

It’s not hard to find research that highlights the positive, medicinal effects of marijuana.

And it’s not hard to find studies the reveal the damaging short and long-term effects of heavy use.

Some pro-pot advocates will argue that marijuana doesn’t have any addictive properties, that it’s a nearly harmless drug.

Investing in Cannabis 2016: Legalization and FDA Approvals to Revolutionize the Market

The cannabis market has come a long way in recent years, and 2015 was no exception. While marijuana is still considered a Schedule 1 drug under the Controlled Substances Act, the US has allowed patients with a variety of medical conditions to smoke marijuana in 23 states since 1996, and this year more states have moved to legalize both medical and recreational cannabis.

For example, in February, Alaska became the third state to allow individuals to grow, smoke and possess cannabis for recreational use, while Oregon became the fourth in July. There have also been initiatives in the medical cannabis space, with both Texas and Georgia signing bills last year to legalize low-THC cannabis oil for the treatment of epilepsy and other chronic diseases.

For Canadians, a return to power for the liberal party means some serious policy shifts are in order, including overhauling the country’s criminal justice system, boosting spending on health programs, and devising and implementing a system to effectively legalize and regulate marijuana.
