Cold Plasma / Hydroxyl Odor Control for Commercial Scale Marijuana Greenhouses

There are a number of odor control options for the vented air from smaller Marijuana greenhouse operations, however when one gets to a commercial scale it is a good idea to consider odor control methods generally suited for industrial facilities which have similar, large volumes of odorous air that needs to be neutralized.

Vancouver trustee wants farther distance between marijuana-related businesses and schools

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver School Board is looking at a motion to increase the distance between schools and marijuana dispensaries.

Right now, the city requires 300 metres between pot-related businesses and schools or playgrounds, but one NPA trustee would like to see that increased to 500 metres.

Fraser Ballantyne says educators need to be a part of the conversation.

“I feel schools should be also part of it. We look after youth through poverty and food programs and all that. We do care about that kind of stuff. I think this is just another issue.”

He feels a broader conversation needs to happen.

Yes, Even Dangerous Jobs Can Accommodate Medical Marijuana Users

Little precedent has been set on medical cannabis use in the workplace. Over the last two weeks we looked at two Canadian cases, Wilson vs. Transparent Glazing Systems and French vs. Selkin Logging. Both cases begin to inform employees and employers about boundaries on cannabis use at work.

One of the main messages is that employers in Canada have a broad duty to accommodate medical cannabis as a treatment, assuming the employee has a valid prescription from a doctor.

Canada: Marijuana must be regulated quickly to protect kids, Conservatives say

The Liberal federal government is facing pressure from an unlikely source to quickly legalize and regulate the sale of recreational marijuana: the Conservative Party of Canada.

At a news conference on Monday, interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose said the growing number of illegal dispensaries is increasing the risk that children will get access to pot. As such, she said, the pressure is on the government to present and implement its plan to legalize marijuana.

“[Prime Minister Justin Trudeau] said he will legalize writ large, which will make pot much more available, but he will protect kids, he will keep it out of the hands of kids,” Ms. Ambrose said. “I think he needs to move quickly on that, because we already know that this is happening across the country.”

Advice from Colorado as Trudeau government looks to legalize marijuana

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Canada learn a few things from Colorado when it comes to legalizing pot.

Andrew Freedman, the state’s director of the Office of Marijuana Coordination, tells Maclean’s on the Hill that after the drug became legal, they started public education campaigns on youth prevention and responsible use.

If he had to do it over again, he says he would have started the campaigns well in advance, “just so that people understood that this isn’t a free-for-all culture, that if we’re going to do this, we’re going to set the tone of doing it responsibly and doing it in a way that keeps… Canada safe and healthy.”

Freedman says many issues have popped up which legislators didn’t foresee when they legalized the drug two years ago.

Health Canada Faces Protean Pot Stocks and a Booming Black Market

Given the thousands of Health Canada applications filed by companies wanting to legitimize their medical marijuana grow operations in Canada and on the OTC: how did the current six publicly traded Canadian government approved cannabis grow-ops get into the OTC market quicker than others? Does a back door process exist, or a minimum monetary requirement for an initial licensed producer application?

What Today’s Consumers Value Most

The sharing economy has shifted spending behaviours from ownership to experiences and made trust even more important, according to new reports

New, exciting experiences are trumping ownership as the new status symbol, according to a recent study from Capital One. Last year, the credit card company hosted its inaugural C1NDX, a roundtable with journalists, academics and industry experts that focused on how disruptive technology is impacting consumer spending habits. Capital One also partnered with Vision Critical on a survey of 1,500 Canadians.

Toronto marijuana dispensary raided after media interview about how it's 'totally illegal'

Raid comes on the heels of owners' interview with VICE.

Toronto police raided a marijuana lounge on the Danforth Thursday, a little more than a week after its owners were featured in a media interview that touted their business as “totally illegal.”

Chris and Erin Goodwin, operators of the Good Weeds Lounge, have been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, relating to marijuana and cannabis resin, plus possession of the proceeds of crime. Erin Goodwin was also charged with simple possession.

The investigation was sparked by “community complaints,” Const. Caroline de Kloet told Metro.

Cannabis legalization in Canada is about much more than the plant

There is an ugly trend that exists in society today, and it is affecting all of us. Revenue from natural resources, industry, agriculture, and more, is increasingly being leveraged away from the average Canadian and into the bank accounts of the wealthiest among us.

Our legislators must now decide if they will take the multi-billion dollar cannabis industry in the same direction, or if they will allow entrepreneurship and a world-renowned industry to continue growing and maturing, as it has been doing for decades.

Under Canada’s Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations—created by the former Conservative government—15 of 27 producer licences (56 percent) have been awarded to business based in Ontario. This is a radical reshaping of the industry.

The Owners of Toronto’s First Recreational Pot Shop Were Arrested During a Police Raid

The owners of Goodweeds Lounge, a newly opened recreational pot bar in Toronto's east end, have been charged with multiple trafficking and possession-related offences following a police raid that took place Thursday evening.

Chris and Erin Goodwin opened up the vapour lounge a few weeks ago where customers can purchase dabs and bong hits on site as long as they're aged 18 and older. No medical prescription is necessary.

But Toronto police confirmed they executed a search warrant at the venue, located at 940 Danforth Avenue, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act on Thursday evening.
