LOGAN, UT--(Marketwired - May 14, 2015) -Plandaí Biotechnology, Inc. (PLPL) (“Plandaí” or “the Company”), announced today that the Government of Uruguay, through its Institute of Regulation and Control of Cannabis (IRCCA), granted Plandai Biotechnology Uruguay S.A. a provisional license under the Marijuana and Derivates Law 19.172, Decree No.46/2015, Articles 6 and 9, to establish a scientific program for the research, and development of prescription cannabinoid medicines.

Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining Phillip Paulwell said marijuana is one of the most researched herbs, and evidence is pointing to a significant number of medical benefits from the plant.

"There is now convincing data and evidence to support beneficial effects in relation to glaucoma, epilepsy, eating disorders and several more conditions, especially those affecting the nervous system," Paulwell said yesterday at a ceremony to hand over a marijuana research licence to the University of Technology (UTech) at the institution's Papine campus.

Ride-sharing company SideCar is planning on getting ahead of the competition by teaming up with local cannabis distributor Meadow to provide same-day medical marijuana deliveries to residents of San Francisco.

According to reports, the offer of special delivery will be much like SideCar's other transport services, wherein customers receive their package within an hour after making the order. Delivery requests will be made through the dispensary of San Francisco's Apothecarium.
