HBO just bought six episodes of ‘High Maintenance’, the popular webseries

HBO has picked up the Vimeo pot-dealer webseries “High Maintenance” for six episodes.

The webseries about a Brooklyn pot dealer is created and written by the married duo of Katja Blichfeld (Emmy-winning casting director of “30 Rock”) and Ben Sinclair (“Sisters” and “Big C”), and executive produced by Katja Blichfeld, Russell Gregory and Ben Sinclair.

The series stars Ben Sinclair as “The Guy,” a friendly pot dealer whose clients include an eccentric group of characters.

HBO will make the previous 19 episodes, originally on Vimeo, available later this year.

“High Maintenance” joins a growing number of webseries to make the jump to TV, among them “Broad City,” “Web Therapy” and “Children’s Hospital.”

Here's the only pot stock worth owning

This is pot's $3 billion banking problem The marijuana business is attracting a lot of interest from entrepreneurs, venture capitalists -- and consumers -- in states where pot is legal for recreational and/or medicinal use.

There are even dozens of publicly traded pot stocks. But should you buy any of them? Probably not ... unless you don't mind seeing your portfolio do a Cheech and Chong and go up in smoke. (Sorry.)

Many of the companies are trying to attract investors with goofy names and ticker symbols that make it obvious they're in the pot business.

The latest crop of potentially lucrative products? Pot for pets.

Marijuana Businesses Offer Opportunities, But Also Risks

In emerging marijuana businesses both the opportunities and the risks are, pardon the pun, high. The same could be said for the industry’s startup potential.

And even though traditional banks are not getting behind the industry just yet, there are investors in the marijuana industry. But even if you decide to take on a backer in your marijuana-related business, it doesn’t diminish the myriad risks.

‘Donations’ for pot: It’s $30 per gram at the Cannabis Cup, but is this legal?

While sampling was rampant on the Cannabis Cup’s first day, you may be better off bringing your own. Out-of-state companies, along with Colorado businesses that don’t hold state licenses, were running low on samples by the end of Saturday after being swamped with visitors as the only outlets for free or paid samples.

Yes, paid.

A new shopper's high for 420: Marijuana-themed products are smoking hot

Marijuana is not just for getting baked anymore. As it becomes legal in more states, the wacky tobacky also is leaving its leafy green mark on American marketing.

From backpacks and bed sheets to toilet seats and thong underwear, cannabis culture is inspiring pot-themed products faster than Wiz Khalifa can burn through a dime bag.

And in advance of 420 — a kind of Stoner’s New Year celebrated on April 20 — plenty of people have been shopping for legal ganja goods, even where the drug is still vilified and against the law.

On a recent day, Kerry Baker (yes, that’s her real name) browsed the marijuana-themed products at Spencer’s Gifts in Oak Park Mall.

Kansas Police Shutdown Cannabis Oil Activist's Facebook to Prevent Her From Raising Money for her Legal Defense

The Garden City Police Department had cannabis oil activist Shona Banda’s Facebook account shutdown because she was using her social media network to raise money for her legal defense after the police raided her home and took her 11 year-old son into custody, all because he vocally disagreed with anti-cannabis propaganda that his school counselors were teaching in his classroom.

The GoFundMe account Shona is using to raise money was actually set up at her request, by Wichita activist Jennifer Winn and Kansas Exposed editor Mike Shatz.
