Canada: MP office receives package containing marijuana

Northumberland-Peterborough South MP Kim Rudd wasn’t in her Cobourg office when a post-New Year’s present arrived last week: a plastic bag containing marijuana.

Rudd is just the latest in a series of MPs across the country whom author Dana Larsen has written, including in his package a copy of his book, Cannabis in Canada: the Illustrated History, plus some of the actual topic of his book, in dried form.

Rudd’s communications director Jamie Simmons told Northumberland Today in an interview they had heard “someone was sending marijuana to MPs.”

Then the local MP’s office received a call from a person who asked itf it had arrived yet.

“Within a couple of days it showed up,” he said.

On Wednesday, Daybreak spoke to two growers — Sebastien St-Louis of The Hydropothecary and Dany Lefebvre of Vert Médical — on the changes to come.

  • MARIJUANA IN MONTREAL

St-Louis is the founder of Quebec's only licensed producer of medical marijuana.

Here are excerpts of his interview with Mike Finnerty:

Mail order marijuana a challenging problem

Enter the words "mail order marijuana" into Google and you'll find plenty of websites illegally offering marijuana for sale — and offering to ship it straight to you through Canada Post.

Typically, dealers collect payment online, process the order form, and ship the drugs to an address provided by the buyer.

Legalizing marijuana will come with strict controls, MP Bill Blair says

Liberal MP Bill Blair wants to make it clear the growth and sale of legal marijuana in Canada will not be a free-for-all.

In an interview, the chief architect of the country’s new marijuana regime frequently used such words as “control” and “strict regulation” as he discussed the federal government’s options.

The former chief of the Toronto Police Service supports legalization, but mainly as a tool to restrict access for young people and to deal with the social and health problems caused by the drug.

Less Is More: Discover Medical Cannabis Micro-Dosing

The world of cannabis dosing can be really confusing. Newcomers have no idea where to start and even the experienced cannabis consumer might very well be taking in more cannabis than their body actually needs.

I mean, what even constitutes a dose anyway? How do we factor in the natural variables that come with different strains and cannabinoid profiles? And how does THC tolerance play into all of this? Is it possible that many of us are in fact overdosing?

This is what I love about the concept of micro-dosing with cannabis. As a daily consumer of medical marijuana, it gets me asking important questions and thinking about my regimen in a whole new way.
