Watson's inflexibility clouds marijuana vapour lounge issue

Police question Buzz On owner Wayne Robillard show while Robillard was unveiling his lounge to the media.

Let’s start with how Mayor Jim Watson is right.

He’s right to be frustrated over the city’s apparent inability to do anything about the marijuana smoking going on at Buzz On.

It’s a ludicrous set of circumstances that finds the city with the authority to strictly regulate the smoking of tobacco — which is perfectly legal — while simultaneously having its hands tied when it comes to restricting the consumption of a largely illegal substance.

That’s why Watson called this week for the police to crack down on the patrons of the marijuana vapour lounge.

From so-called drugs, there is usually only negative to report. The thoroughly existing medical potential of psychoactive substances is therefore often not perceived or further explored. Marijuana Legalization Oklahoma: Gov. Fallin Signs Bill Allowing Clinical Trials Of Medical ...

Oklahoma took a small, first step Thursday toward legalizing one form of medical marijuana after Gov. Mary Fallin signed a bill that would allow medical trials of a cannabis derivative known as cannabidiol, or CBD, to move forward. Many say CBD is beneficial in treating children with debilitating seizure conditions. While Fallin, a Republican, made it clear that she remained opposed to legalizing marijuana outright, she said the bill would give researchers the opportunity to study the effects of CBD on children with epilepsy.

Alabama 'We aren't deterred'

Alabama medical marijuana advocates are set to hold a protest rally in the home district of state Sen. Jabo Waggoner on Saturday.

Medical marijuana legislation (Senate Bill 326) received approval in a Senate committee last week, but Republican lawmakers are hesitant to put Sen. Bobby Singleton's bill on the calendar to even be discussed on the Senate floor.

Waggoner, chairman of the Senate rules committee, told AL.com that Alabama isn't ready to allow medical marijuana usage, but he would poll members of the committee about putting it on the calendar.

B.C.'s top doc counters feds on medical marijuana

B.C.'s provincial health officer is defending the value of marijuana as a medicine after federal Health Minister Rona Ambrose urged the City of Vancouver to shut down all local pot dispensaries rather than regulating them.

Dr. Perry Kendall took issue with various federal policies on pot in an interview with Black Press, particularly Ambrose's suggestion marijuana doesn't have the utility of approved pharmaceuticals.

He said there's "a growing body of evidence" that cannabis is effective as an appetite stimulant, an anti-nauseant and as a chronic pain killer, including against spastic neurological conditions like ALS, among others.

Without belittling THC or CBD, many growers and extract artists alike have set their sights on terpenes. THC alone has little to no flavor, while CBD can taste like cherries on its own. The real flavor in a good concentrate comes from the terpenoid content.

'Our purity is above 99%' – the Chinese labs churning out legal highs for the west

At the Chemsun Global pharmaceutical laboratory in an industrial park in Shanghai, the smell of fumes is so intense it leaves a bitter, chemical aftertaste in your mouth. At midnight on a recent Friday, a Chinese chemist who called himself Terry was eager to close a deal.

In the laboratory outside, a bright yellow liquid whirred around a flask. The place was filthy: surfaces were strewn with discarded rubber gloves and in one corner a sack of white powder spilled onto the floor.
