Medical marijuana use in Pa. debated

HARRISBURG — With the legalization of medical marijuana now before the House, Gov. Tom Wolf on Monday hosted supporters at the governor’s residence for what he described as “a chance to get the facts out.”

Mr. Wolf sat for more than an hour in the front row as two doctors, a lawyer, the mother of a child with epilepsy and a man with a pain disorder made the case for allowing doctors to add marijuana to the treatments they recommend to their patients.

Hickenlooper On Allowing Medical Marijuana In Schools: ‘Common Sense Would Prevail’

DENVER (CBS4) – A new law signed by Gov. John Hickenlooper on Monday requires medical marijuana caregivers to register with the state, and get a license if they sell more than 99 plants. But an amendment to the new law is the real story.

The amendment makes Colorado the first state in the country to allow medical marijuana in schools. Nearly 500 students in Colorado take cannabis for debilitating conditions. The amendment is named after one of those students whose mother led the fight for it.

As Hickenlooper signed Jack’s Amendment into law, Jack Splitt’s smile said all he couldn’t say. Splitt has cerebral palsy and just wants to go to school like any other kid.

A Mother and Daughter’s Fight to Legalize CBD in Brazil

CBD oil legal medicine in Brazil and government subsidised thanks to this family's fight

With the world being so exceptionally large, contingent on so many moving parts, one would think that we have little opportunity to make a major impact… but one mother down in Brazil, is proof that that this is simply not the case. If you have the will, the drive, and a fiercely beating heart, you can make a difference. In Katiele Fischer’s case, her will to make an impact not only altered the perception of her surrounding culture and country, but served as the catalyst for a ripple effect that will reach far beyond Brazil’s borders. It all started with a question, ‘What is CBD?’

ZAMBIA Medical Association urges research on medicinal marijuana

ZAMBIA Medical Association president Dr Aaron Mujajati has suggested that marijuana be subjected to further scientific scrutiny in view of growing debates on its health benefits.

In a statement, Dr Mujajati advised people to be open to new ideas.

“As Zambia Medical Association [ZMA], we are aware of the local sentiments on this subject and the current legal provisions. However, we should not, as a country, shy away from subjecting our practices to further interrogation. We are not an island and our ways of life are affected negatively or positively by the world beyond us,” he stated.

Pot Farming, Italian Army style

Situated amid the beautiful and history-laden streets of Florence there’s a secure pharmaceutical facility where medical marijuana is being grown by an organization one wouldn’t typically associate with either farming or cannabis: The Italian Army.

“To the best of my knowledge, it is the only situation in which the ministry of defence of a European country is tasked with such production,” says Marco Perduca, a former senator in Italy and the current United Nations representative for the Nonviolent Radical Party.

The Army is busy growing its first marijuana crop as part of a government effort to provide an affordable and safe supply of medical cannabinoids for use in the country. The plan was announced in September and the operation is now up and running.

Prepping To Launch A Recreational Marijuana Business: How To Do It Right

The critical components of establishing a successful cannabis business may seem obvious at first:
•  Research industry-specific best-practices in cultivation.
•  Secure adequate funding.
•  Plan facility construction or adaptation.
•  Build a quality management team.
•  Seek counsel from legal and accounting experts.
•  Launch a progressive marketing campaign.

Yet what can an emerging company do to separate itself from the pack? In laying the groundwork for legitimate cannabis enterprise in Alaska, the founders of Greatland Ganja, LLC, have selected tactics aimed at appealing to evolving local attitudes toward recreational marijuana. By choosing to connect and work collaboratively, we create a more robust network of allies and assets.

Saskatoon student in human rights fight over medical marijuana

SASKATOON – Michael Wileniec used to walk across the street from his Saskatoon high school several times a day and hang out with the rest of the smokers, although he was the only one puffing on prescribed medical marijuana.

His routine ended earlier this year when school officials told him he could not smoke prescribed weed on school grounds, nor could he attend classes while under its influence. Wileniec fought the ruling before the school board and lost.

“We got a reply back from the superintendent saying there’s no need for medical marijuana in the school and that a student under medical marijuana is a safety hazard to the faculty,” the 21-year-old said in an interview.

Limited medical marijuana study gets initial OK from Nebraska lawmakers

The less controversial of two medical marijuana bills being considered by Nebraska lawmakers this year received overwhelming support Monday during its first appearance before the full Legislature.

Sen. Sue Crawford says her bill (LB390), while more limited in scope than a measure sponsored by fellow Bellevue Sen. Tommy Garrett, would allow people with life-threatening epilepsy to receive treatment more quickly.

The soonest Garrett's bill (LB643) could go into effect, if passed by lawmakers, would be July 2016. Regulatory complications could push that as far back as next December.

Crawford's bill would take effect almost immediately, assuming it gains support from 33 senators, the number required to pass a bill with an emergency clause.
