UK Government's response to petition to legalize cannabis

Currently in the UK, cannabis is in Schedule 1 - meaning that there is no known therapeutic use - Not only is this notion scientifically incorrect, it also puts patients that rely on Cannabis to survive in immediate danger i.e. no regulation/poor quality medicine, criminal activity to acquire medication. A petition demanding that patients in the UK be allowed immediate access to this medicine has thus far reached nearly 24,000 signatures and has received a response from the government:

Government responded

Herbal cannabis is listed in Schedule 1 as a drug with no recognised medicinal uses outside research. A substantial body of scientific evidence shows it is harmful and can damage human health.

WHAT IS “WHOLE PLANT”?

Some say no to CBD Hemp because “whole plant,” but CBD Hemp is in fact “whole plant.” The entire plant is being used to make oil or other CBD products. There is some THC, it is not devoid completely. And as little as 0.15 mg THC is enough for neuroprotectant effect, enough from 1.5 teaspoons of common hempseed oil.

CO² extraction isn’t even whole plant, as it leaves some Cannabinoids behind. So while some feel there needs to be more THC in a CBD product, that is easy enough to add: it’s grown in every county in the country. But CBD is harder to get in today’s market, whether regulated or underground.

MS sufferer slams MHK's cannabis comments

MS sufferer hits out

A Ramsey MHK's comments about cannabis and prescriptions have been labelled 'atrocious' by an MS sufferer.

This week, Leonard Singer said he was opposed to the drug being permitted for medicinal use because people who obtained it on prescription could just give it to other people. He does however, support the use of cannabis-derived, approved prescription drugs such as Sativex.

Di, who has MS uses Sativex spray to help alleviate some of the elements of her condition.

She rejects the argument that prescriptions could be sold or passed on, as a reason to oppose allowing the medicinal use of cannabis.

Men and women use cannabis for different reasons

Cannabis is the most widely used illicit drug with more than 181 million consumers worldwide. It is often considered to be primarily a male problem: men make up three quarters of users, consume larger quantities, and are twice as likely to become dependent. Fewer women use cannabis, do so in smaller amounts, and start smoking later than men.

No One Reading Your PR Pitches? 10 Ways to Fix That

Baffled and disappointed that nobody seems interested in your company’s story?

Your competitors seem to have all the luck, garnering features in blogs and magazines, while the best you get is a lousy mention in a longer article.

I’ve been working in PR for years now, and have a few things to share about why some pitches get results and most others fall flat. While search, social, branded content, and other channels lessen the reliance on good old PR, there’s still something special and coveted about the third party credibility and reach that comes with a journalist profiling your company.

10 Little-Known Uses for CBD

Among the cannabinoids in cannabis, the main psychoactive compound, THC, often outshines the one that provides a natural anti-anxiety, anti-epileptic and antipsychotic effect.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, lacks the colorful high commonly associated with your traditional marijuana high and doesn't have much of a noticeable effect when isolated. When combined with THC, the relaxing effect combats any feelings of paranoia or panic that can sometimes be felt under the influence.

While lauded for it's effect on epilepsy, recent cannabis research has identified CBD as the component responsible for a great deal of marijuana's medical benefits. Here are 10 medical use for CBD that you might not have known about:
