Arizona Medical-Marijuana Patients Can Now Buy Cannabis Legally in Las Vegas and Reno

Arizona's medical-marijuana patients now can patronize newly opened dispensaries in Reno and Las Vegas and possess up to 2.5 ounces anywhere in Nevada.

Arizona, like some of the other 23 states with medical-marijuana laws, allows people with valid medical cards from other states to legally possess marijuana in Arizona, but they can't legally buy it at Arizona dispensaries.

Nevada apparently is the only state that allows its dispensaries to sell to patients from other states. And now its dispensaries have begun to open, greatly expanding where Arizona's 80,000 patients can legally buy cannabis.

But he says large-scale hemp-fibre processing is still some time off with a lack of large-scale processing plant.

Legal Marijuana Could Be The First Billion-Dollar Industry Led By Women

More women are cultivating cannabis careers than ever before. As a matter of fact the emerging commercial cannabis industry isn’t just hurriedly accumulating women as it blossoms—it could actually be led by women. Newsweek recently ran a cover story about the trend. Women are moving into the pot business so quickly that they could make it the first billion-dollar industry that isn’t dominated by men, the mag predicts.

Tweed Marijuana Inc. Records a $1 million profit

Earlier this week, Tweed Marijuana Inc. (TWD) completed the acquisition of Bedrocan Cannabis Corp. (BED). The acquisition successfully combined the two largest Canadian medical marijuana producers and created a conglomerate in the Canadian medical marijuana industry.

Brand Extensions? They're Branding Within Your Brand

According to AMA, the American Marketing Association, a line extension refers to,

A new product marketed by an organization that already has at least one other product being sold in that product/market area. Line extensions are usually new flavors, sizes, models, applications, strengths, etc.”

As you expand your line of products, it is important to differentiate your new product or service from existing ones, while maintaining overall brand consistency.

Attention Employers: Accommodating Marijuana Use is a Cloudy Issue

The Americans with Disabilities Act doesn’t protect employees or applicants who currently use “illegal” drugs when an employer takes adverse action based on drug use. Courts have said the ADA defines “illegal drug use” by reference to the federal Controlled Substances Act, which classifies marijuana as a Schedule I illegal narcotic.

State laws that authorize medical marijuana use directly conflict with federal disability discrimination laws and parallel state statutes, rendering employers’ legal obligations to individuals with disabilities unclear. Employees who seek permission to use medical marijuana as an accommodation for a disability may have accommodation rights under state medical marijuana statutes but no accommodation rights under disability laws.

Do Alaska cannabis regulations allow for chefs to get in the game?

Shawn, a chef (and expert punster), wonders whether Alaska cannabis regulators have considered his industry as they're setting the initial boundaries of the legal market.

“I would like to know how they plan to address edibles and establishments that sell them. Are they going to allow a restaurant or dinner club that is an adult atmosphere like a bar, 21 and over, to serve cannabis-infused foods? I'm a chef and I think that we should have opportunity to stake our claim in this 'budding' marijuana industry.”

Cannabuzz: The Week in Cannabis

LIKE JOKES? I got one for you:

Q: What's green and white all over?

A: The cannabis industry in Oregon.

As we begin to see the rollout of canna businesses around the state, it's important we recognize that we here in Oregon are not a terribly diverse pool of ganjapreneurs. Part of that is due to the state's racial makeup; according to the US Census, as of 2013, Oregon had a population of 3,928,068, and of that, 88.1 percent is white. We are a state with a complicated and cringe-inducing history when it comes to how we have treated—and in many cases still treat—people of color.

Hadley may be next for a medical marijuana dispensary

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – 22News has uncovered that a new non-profit organization is interested in opening a medical marijuana dispensary in Hadley.

Hampden Care Facility is a non-profit based in Chicopee. They’ve submitted an application to the Department of Public Health to operate a medical marijuana dispensary somewhere in Hadley.

Hampden Care Facility says they would offer marijuana in multiple forms. HCF also says they would give opportunity for public comment and work cooperatively with their neighbors.

“I don’t have any objections to it,” said Pat Coombs. “As long as it isn’t in a residential area. I think it does a lot of good for a lot of people who have problems.”
