Colorado Marijuana Grow Operations Must Control Smell

Big changes are coming for Denver businesses that cause odors, specifically marijuana grow operations. The Denver City Council has passed new rules regulating the smell.

One area the Department of Environmental Health said generates the most complaints is North Denver. The organization in Denver receives about 100 formal complaints a year.

“A lot of it is marijuana,” said Department of Environmental Health spokesman Gregg Thomas.

Thomas said since the legalization of marijuana, the department has been looking at new ways to regulate air pollution. Now that the city council has made its decision, Thomas said they finally have the ground work.

“It’s partly a brave new world we are entering into,” said Thomas.

But McCann noted that many flower growers are now tempted by the huge potential revenue boost from growing cannabis instead.

Growing a Cannabis Economy for Everyone

Much rationale — economic, scientific and societal — has already been given by many reasoned Vermont voices in support of the legalization and regulation of cannabis.

Over the past year, Vermonters have organized to form various coalitions, both organic and funding-enhanced. Public hearings have been held in every corner of the state, and have been attended by legislators. And those same legislators have dedicated time and effort to cannabis hearings at the Statehouse, presumably to build consensus and avoid the confused and combative scenario we face tomorrow.

Canada: Victoria Could Allow ‘Edibles’ at Cannabis Dispensaries

The City of Victoria is considering rules for its illegal cannabis dispensaries that would be more permissive than Vancouver’s landmark bylaw, permitting the sale of controversial “edibles” and allowing pot shops to be located closer to schools.

Medical marijuana advocates in the provincial capital praised the draft rules for the city’s 32 existing dispensaries, which will be voted on by council later this week. The new proposal comes as officials in Vancouver began cracking down on dispensaries, handing out tickets to nearly two dozen shops over the weekend.
