High-tech marijuana vending machines coming to Vancouver

Vancouver-headquartered Kaneh Bosm (KBB-CNSX) will take delivery of two marijuana vending machines in late April 2015.

“The BioCanna ADM is similar to the Best Buy kiosks that you see in airports,” explains Kaneh Bosm President and Director Michael Martinz. “They have back-end functionality that provides oversight to the machine operator as well as regulators.”

The ADM will screen out people under the age of 19, and verify that they are registered users – and it can also set daily maximums. After delivery, KBB will take a few days to install the software, test the machines and load up the inventory.

Marijuana Businesses Offer Opportunities, But Also Risks

In emerging marijuana businesses both the opportunities and the risks are, pardon the pun, high. The same could be said for the industry’s startup potential.

And even though traditional banks are not getting behind the industry just yet, there are investors in the marijuana industry. But even if you decide to take on a backer in your marijuana-related business, it doesn’t diminish the myriad risks.

‘Donations’ for pot: It’s $30 per gram at the Cannabis Cup, but is this legal?

While sampling was rampant on the Cannabis Cup’s first day, you may be better off bringing your own. A new shopper's high for 420: Marijuana-themed products are smoking hot

Marijuana is not just for getting baked anymore. As it becomes legal in more states, the wacky tobacky also is leaving its leafy green mark on American marketing.

From backpacks and bed sheets to toilet seats and thong underwear, cannabis culture is inspiring pot-themed products faster than Wiz Khalifa can burn through a dime bag.

And in advance of 420 — a kind of Stoner’s New Year celebrated on April 20 — plenty of people have been shopping for legal ganja goods, even where the drug is still vilified and against the law.

On a recent day, Kerry Baker (yes, that’s her real name) browsed the marijuana-themed products at Spencer’s Gifts in Oak Park Mall.

Sommelier Paul Yanon gives cannabis users a primer on weed and wine pairings

It was only a matter of time before weed got the high-class treatment.

Cultivating Spirits, a Silverthorne tour outfit for foodies with cannabis lovers, is hosting a meet and greet brunch with the Denver-based electronic group Collie Buddz on the morning of April 20.

Held at the cannabis-friendly coworking space Green Labs in Denver, the event features a three-course meal that pairs crepes with — what else? — cannabis. Cultivating Spirits owner Philip Wolf crafted the menu from scratch to highlight the finer side of cannabis.

A look ahead at the next steps for Alaska's newest industry

As Legislature prepares to pass the baton on marijuana

Speaking in a conference room within the Alaska State Capitol, James Barrett reached into a pocket and pulled out two $1 bills.

Waving them, he drew the attention of lawmakers who leaned back in their leather chairs and listened to him with new attention.

“When we dial it down to cost per Alaskan, it’s less than two bucks,” he said waving the bills.

Barrett was speaking in favor of the establishment of the Alaska Marijuana Control Board on Friday, and after he spoke, it sailed through the Alaska Senate Finance Committee. A day later, it passed the full Senate with unanimous approval.
