Ohio could legalize marijuana if a proposed amendment collects enough signatures and is approved by voters.

But those who are looking to light up as soon as the law goes into effect may want to hold off.

According to an analysis of ResponsibleOhio’s proposed constitutional amendment to legalize marijuana in Ohio, employers’ drug policies would still have control over whether or not employees could smoke marijuana.

So if your company has an anti-drug policy, a potential law legalizing marijuana would have little to no impact.

Since last summer, enthusiasm surrounding marijuana's potential as a treatment for epilepsy has led to investors more than doubling their money in Insys Therapeutics (NASDAQ: INSY  ) .

The former owner of a Breckenridge medical marijuana center is out on bond and awaiting a grand jury decision after attempting to sell 100 pounds of Colorado-grown marijuana to an undercover police officer in Tennessee.

Christopher Crumbliss, 39, was arrested on Nov. 20 last year in Nashville. He and two accomplices, including former Frisco resident Tasha Desmond, 21, were caught in a local sting operation that netted 425 pounds of marijuana worth roughly $1.7 million, according to Nashville police.

If a bill that sets up a medical marijuana dispensary system in Hawaii becomes law, the state’s Department of Health will have about a year to come up with administrative rules. Currently, the bill sits on Gov. David Ige’s desk after being passed by members of the state House and Senate earlier this week.

Under the proposed law, eight medical marijuana dispensary licenses will be issued; three on Oahu, two each on the Big Island and Maui County, and one on Kauai. Under the proposed program, each licensee can have two retail locations, for a total of 16 statewide.

Now that 23 states have given medical marijuana the green light (with even recreational use now allowed in another four states and Washington D.C.), growing weed has become a growing business. The newest frontier: getting Fido and Fluffy on board with the cannabis revolution.

At a recent Q&A session with members of Riverside County Sherriff’s Department on March 13, members of the Anza community expressed concern with the recent growth of greenhouses that are cultivating Marijuana in their neighborhoods.

These community members expressed concern about the smell when it is being harvested, the numbers of greenhouses being put on a parcel of land without legal dwellings and fear regarding the potential of more crime being generated as a result of the cultivation. The Kansas House passed a bill Thursday that would decrease penalties for marijuana possession, allow the limited production and sale of hemp oil and study uses for industrial hemp.

The House also passed a compromise on green energy policy, and lawmakers considered new tax proposals as they seek ways to fill a budget gap of about $422 million before the close of the session.

The chamber's 81-36 vote Thursday sends the marijuana bill to the Senate for consideration. First- and second-time marijuana offenders without serious prior convictions would avoid jail time under the measure. That would decrease the population in the state's overcrowded prisons and save more than $1.7 million over the next two fiscal years, according to state estimates.
