First, Weedmaps Took Over California's Medical-Marijuana Industry. Now, It's Going Global

The headquarters of Weedmaps, the most influential company in California's medical-marijuana industry, is hidden inside a gray, two-story office building at the intersection of Irvine Center Drive and Discovery in Irvine. Inside the green-accented lobby, the first hint that you've just entered a 420-friendly business is a faint trace of marijuana odor. At just after 10 a.m. on a recent Wednesday, the phone at the front desk is ringing incessantly, the office is hopping with vendors dropping off samples, and UPS has arrived with three large boxes.

Learning the language of THC and CBD

The language used today to discuss cannabis is rooted in two realms: the realm of THC and the realm of CBD. The former is tetrahydrocannabinol, a compound that has been identified as the psychoactive component of the plant; the latter is cannabidiol, a compound currently associated with the healing properties of the plant. CBD has even been shown to counteract the psychoactive effects of THC.

Israeli research scientist Raphael Mechoulam, who discovered these compounds, described THC as an oil and CBD as “nicely crystally.” In a tradition that dates back for centuries, cannabis plants are bred to have different concentrations of these compounds in different proportions.

These Cannabis Vaporizers Make Traveling While Medicating A Total Breeze

While at a weed-themed birthday party a few weeks back, I felt like a kid at a candy store perusing cannabis vendors sporting all kinds of 420-friendly wares.

I couldn’t help but be drawn to one vendor’s table that looked sleeker and sexier than the rest. Upon further investigation, I came to learn a lot about Evoxe Laboratories, a cannabis vaporizer distributor that aims to revolutionize the way we medicate.

Using a combination of cannabis and aromatherapy oils, scientifically tested formulas help users achieve a specific mood. With four vape pens currently on the market — a sativa, indica, hybrid and low-THC, CBD oil blend — there’s one for every occasion.

This Car Is Made out of Cannabis Hemp

THIS sports convertible brings new meaning to “high-performance” vehicle.

Made from the chassis of a Mazda, the car is made from cannabis hemp — and is touted as possibly leading the charge in making carbon-neutral vehicles, Barcroft Media reported.

Bruce Michael Dietzen from Florida, the mastermind behind the “green machine,” hopes his environmentally friendly car will weed out the taboo behind the cannabis plant.

“Cannabis hemp is still considered a dangerous drug according to the government. It’s considered as dangerous as heroin or cocaine — it’s insane!” he said. “This green machine is made from three plies of woven hemp, making it lighter than cars made from fibreglass.”

Study: There's No Scientific Basis for Laws Regulating Marijuana and Driving

Six states that allow marijuana use legal tests to determine driving while impaired by the drug that have no scientific basis, according to a study by the nation's largest automobile club that calls for scrapping those laws.

The study commissioned by AAA's safety foundation said it's not possible to set a blood-test threshold for THC, the chemical in marijuana that makes people high, that can reliably determine impairment.

Yet the laws in five of the six states automatically presume a driver guilty if that person tests higher than the limit, and not guilty if it's lower.

As a result, drivers who are unsafe may be going free while others may be wrongly convicted, the foundation said.
