Magic Flight is revolutionising the weed equipment market with wooden products made with love

Hand-made vaporizers serve as 'functional pieces of art'

Just a few years ago, if you wanted to buy some equipment for smoking weed, you were refined to a market stall or dingy head shop selling poorly-made products shipped in from Asia. You know the sort - neon plastic grinders with Bob Marley's face on, lumpy bongs in the shape of goblins, t-shirts emblazoned with alien faces saying 'take me to your dealer'.

Fortunately, as the use of cannabis slowly becomes destigmatised and various levels of legalisation or decriminalisation sweep the globe, those days are gone, and the market for quality paraphernalia is booming.

First large-scale hemp processing plant begins in Colorado

A Fort Lupton plant is starting to test and process Colorado's hemp harvest, turning it into pulp that can be used to make paper, sugar -- even biofuels.

It's nickname may be "ditch weed," but the PureVision Technology processing plant in Ft. Lupton is turning Colorado's newest cash crop into something much more valuable.

The hemp plant is cannabis without the psychoactive properties and growing hemp became legal in Colorado last year, along with the recreational marijuana vote

"I would say it grows like a weed. You throw it in the ground and watch it grow," said Dani Billings, who started growing hemp last year, and was amazed at the low-water usage and high yield.

Here’s how big the legal pot business will be by 2020

Legal marijuana is already big business in America. Colorado alone sold more than $700 million worth of legal weed in 2014, its first full-year of legal recreational and medical sales. Three other states and the District of Columbia have legalized recreational marijuana. Twenty-three states and Puerto Rico have legalized medical marijuana, and revenue for the industry as a whole has been growing nearly 34% a year for the past five years. And it’s only expected to keep growing.

These five numbers show just how big legal American marijuana could be in five years.

$13.4 billion

Will too many paths to legal marijuana in Maine leave everyone lost?

AUGUSTA, Maine — It’s been well-reported that there are two competing groups trying to place marijuana legalization on the state ballot in 2016. The two plans differ in how much marijuana can be sold, how many retail operations will be allowed, and even which state agency should license growers and sellers.

Despite some overtures at cooperation to get a single ballot question to voters next year, it’s unlikely that the two groups — Marijuana Policy Project and Legalize Maine — will join forces. Both want to “free the plant,” but they have very different visions for what legalization should look like.

Why More Marijuana Regulation Will Lead To Fewer Cannabis Cups

Many praise marijuana legalization as the most effective way to wrest from criminals the well-entrenched illegal market they have created over the past few decades. Many praise the regulations that come with legalization for helping to ensure control and transparency over marijuana businesses and their products. Of course not everyone approves of marijuana regulation, especially those who make their money on unregulated marijuana markets. Marijuana cups and competitions thrive on an unregulated cannabis industry and regulations are starting to cause them hard times.

Kansas' broad marijuana bill attracts bulk of GOP votes

Supporters of a broad bill that would ease marijuana laws wending its way through the Kansas Legislature claim it's a narrow enough set of reforms that conservative Republicans can vote for and demonstrates a shift in the long-running discussion.

Kansas' GOP-dominated House passed the bill by a wide margin Thursday, making it the most serious push to liberalize Kansas' marijuana policies in decades. The bill would decrease penalties for marijuana possession, order a state study of industrial hemp and allow limited production and sale of hemp oil to treat seizures.

Democratic Rep. Gail Finney from Wichita, who for many years has supported comprehensive marijuana legislation, said efforts to "educate" the Legislature have "paid off."

This Federal Bill Could Fully End Marijuana Prohibition In The United States This Year

A new federal bill called the “Respect State Marijuana Laws Act of 2015” was introduced to Congress earlier this week by Representative Dana Rohrabacher, a Democrat from California. It would provide immunity against prosecution at the federal level for individuals and businesses abiding by state marijuana laws. It’s a short document, but its implications are huge.
