Even a little marijuana is too much at BWI Airport

Marijuana restrictions have been relaxed in the District, but an incident Wednesday at one of the region’s airports showed that Washington-area marijuana enforcement, even involving small amounts, has not ended.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said a search of the luggage of an arriving passenger at Baltimore-Washington International Marshall Airport yielded a discovery and a seizure. The search came after a customs detector dog “alerted,” the agency said.

The item seized, the agency said, was a single cigarette that contained less than 1 gram of marijuana.

The cigarette was in a bag carried by a U.S. citizen, who was arriving from Jamaica, the agency said.

Cops under investigation after video shows them 'eating marijuana edibles, playing darts, and ...

The Santa Ana Police Department has launched an internal affairs investigation into several officers caught on video eating marijuana-laced edibles, playing darts, and removing surveillance cameras during a pot raid last month.

Santa Ana police Cmdr. Chris Revere, in charge of the SAPD's internal affairs division, said Thursday that the video is 'concerning' and although the department expects its officers to 'act in a certain way' it has 'to be fair,' according to The Orange County Register.

BIG PHARMA’S BIG PROBLEM

With sound research backing the use of CBD oil and patient testimonials piling in daily, why is this non-psychoactive supplement still in the legal grey area? Well, as the old and true saying goes, you have to follow the money to find the truth.

The pharmaceutical industry contributed just under 240 million dollars in lobbying efforts in 2014. That’s a fair amount of money switching hands and a fair amount of politicians now comfortably placed in Big Pharma’s pocket. But it’s not just politicians who pray to the all-mighty dollar. Cleverly named organizations do as well.

A weed-infused cream of celery soup that will change your mind on celery

I know what you are thinking without you saying a word: “Why would I waste my cannabutter on a cream of celery soup, Laurie?”

But this soup will change your mind about cream of celery soup — it’s a valid use of your valuable cannabutter, I promise.

Personally I don’t mind a crunchy celery stick, particularly when it’s sticking out of a Bloody Mary, but this recipe is going to change the way we all think about this least-loved member of the apiaceae family, which also includes carrots and parsley. (Speaking of: This is a family of plants with hollow stems. Weird.)

Dearborn prosecutor disagrees with Hamilton prosecutor's pro-marijuana legalization stance

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – The Dearborn County prosecutor spoke out against legalizing marijuana the day after a task force led by the prosecutor of neighboring Hamilton County released a report touting the benefits of legalizing marijuana in Ohio.

Aaron Negangard, the prosecutor in Dearborn and Ohio counties, told WCPO that he believed the decriminalization trend was largely responsible for “the increased drug problems we’re having.”

“I think it’s an awful idea,” Negangard said. “I think it will lead to greater drug abuse. It will lead to greater crime, and we’re already seeing that.”

Andrew Cuomo's Pot Problem

In New York, one of the most liberal states in the country, why is the governor doing everything in his power to water down sensible marijuana reform?

hen New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation opening the door to medical marijuana last July, supporters of marijuana-policy reform were optimistic that change was finally coming to the Empire State. But the bill Cuomo signed was typical of New York's strange and troubled history with marijuana policy. Scheduled to launch next January, the medical-marijuana program contains so many gratuitous restrictions and baffling regulations that supporters remain unsure whether the new law is a tentative first step toward meaningful change, or a halfhearted measure doomed to kill sensible marijuana policy.

Connecticut To Allow 3 More Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

HARTFORD — Connecticut plans to allow up to three more medical marijuana dispensaries, targeting New Haven and Fairfield counties, where there are the most registered patients and the fewest licensed sellers.

The decision to add to the state's six dispensaries comes nine months after the first medical marijuana sales by a fledgling industry in Connecticut in which both growers and dispensaries are still in a struggle to break even.

The Department of Consumer Protection announced Thursday that it would seek proposals for the new dispensaries because there has been "significant growth" in patient registration, especially this spring.
