5 Canada pot stocks to hold for 10 years

cannabis

Investing in cannabis stocks may sound like risky business with it not legalized at the federal level in the US and let’s face it over the past sort of six to nine months it has been one of the most volatile sectors.

However, with both big US political parties on the green band wagon and a record 68 per cent of Americans approving of pot for recreational use (91 per cent of Americans approve of it for medicinal use), its legalization is arguably not a question of if but of when.

Certainly, it is hard to see weed still being illegal in the US five years from now. On that note, let us look at five Canadian marijuana stocks.

The risks of low birth weight, preterm birth and other complications are enough for OB/GYNs to counsel against smoking weed while pregnant.

pregnant woman

Smoking weed during pregnancy significantly can increase the risk of low birth weight, preterm delivery and requiring neonatal intensive care, according to a recent study published in JAMA.

The tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, in marijuana will pass through your system to your baby and may harm your baby’s development. If you are planning to get pregnant, have learned you are pregnant or are breastfeeding, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends stop smoking weed, using marijuana edibles or exposing yourself to secondhand marijuana smoke.

Psilocybin mushrooms considered relatively safe, with serious incidents rare and short lasting: study

woman

"No drug is entirely risk free, but relative to most recreationally used drugs, psilocybin mushrooms demonstrate a good safety profile based on the rate of emergency medical treatment seeking in this sample"

A new study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology has found that psilocybin mushrooms are a “relatively safe drug.”

That conclusion was reached after an analysis of more than 9,200 respondents who had participated in the 2017 Global Drug Survey. Specifically focusing on those who had consumed mushrooms in the past year, researchers found only 0.2 per cent of respondents sought emergency medical treatment following use.

2 cannabis stocks better than Sundial Growers

cannabis

Here’s why Green Thumb Industries and Cresco Labs are much better long-term bets compared to Sundial Growers.

Sundial Growers (NASDAQ:SNDL) has been among the worst-performing cannabis stocks on the equity market. Similar to most other cannabis producers in Canada, Sundial is wrestling with a range of issues that include shareholder dilution, low profit margins, high inventory levels, an increase in competition, overvalued acquisitions, and cannibalization from illegal markets, among others.

In the last few quarters, Sundial has looked to improve its bottom line by focusing on the sale of high-margin items and reducing its product portfolio. It has also financed other cannabis producers, thereby diversifying its revenue base.
