DOVER, N.H. (AP) - The New Hampshire Health Department will hold a public forum in Dover to discuss setting up a medical marijuana dispensary.

Temescal Wellness, a nonprofit, was selected by the department to operate the alternative treatment center to serve patients in Strafford, Rockingham and Belknap counties.

The public forum will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the McConnell Center in Dover. The purpose is to gather input from residents, qualifying patients and designated caregivers about safety and other local concerns.

Similar forums on proposed dispensary sites have been held in Plymouth, Lebanon, Merrimack and in proposed cultivation sites in Peterborough, Manchester and Rochester.

Department representatives will discuss the implementation of the Therapeutic Cannabis Program, and Temescal officials will discuss operational and security plans.

Arizona

Qualifying conditions to become a medical marijuana patient in Arizona include:

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – If you’re prescribed medical marijuana, it could get a little easier to get a prescription filled.  That’s because the the state received 19 new applications for medical marijuana dispensary facilities Friday.  Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jonathan Harris mad the announcement.  He said “We are pleased with the number of applications received and are ready to begin our comprehensive review process.”

Applications were in response to the Department’s Request for Applications, for proposed locations in New Haven or Fairfield Counties, which was issued in June.

The pain in Debbie DiFranco’s fingers and toes is sometimes debilitating.

The neuropathy, as it’s called, is a side effect of the chemotherapy drugs used to combat her gynecological cancer. Few things help relieve the pain, which at times is so intense DiFranco has trouble simply going for a walk. Doctors have prescribed her several medications to combat the side effect, but they have side effects of their own, and their ingredients are sometimes questionable.

One thing that does help relieve the pain of neuropathy as well as other side effects from chemotherapy is marijuana, DiFranco said.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Nearly one in five high school students who said they used electronic cigarettes to vaporize nicotine also used them to vaporize pot, according to a survey of nearly 4,000 Connecticut teens.

The study, published on Monday in the journal Pediatrics, is the first evidence that teens are using electronic cigarettes to vaporize cannabis, the researchers said.

New poll suggests candidates who are pro-states' rights as far as marijuana is concerned may connect with key primary voters

Most voters in Iowa and New Hampshire think the feds should stay out of states' marijuana legalization efforts, according to new poll numbers. 

Republican voters in the early primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire do not believe that the incoming administration ought to interfere with the enactment of state laws legalizing marijuana, according to polling data conducted by Public Policy Polling and published today by Marijuana-Majority.com.

Sixty-seven percent of GOP voters in New Hampshire agree that “states should be able to carry out their own marijuana laws without federal interference.” Sixty-four percent of Iowa GOP voters agreed with the statement.

After waiting in line for hours at a booth during a medical marijuana convention in San Francisco, Jeff Harrington needed only a two-minute consultation and a written recommendation to become a medical marijuana patient in California. He now can legally purchase and possess marijuana from any one of thousands of marijuana businesses in the state.

Across the country in Connecticut, an established physician-patient relationship is required before patients are deemed qualified for medical marijuana, and only licensed pharmacists can own and operate dispensaries.

More than 100 people packed into the town hall in Plymouth on Monday night, where the first public forum about a planned medical marijuana dispensary was held.

Sanctuary ATC, the nonprofit that would run the dispensary, gave residents details about how the facility would work and why they selected Plymouth.

Residents also had the chance to give their opinions on having medical marijuana for sale in their town.

Monday's meeting was part of a series of public meetings in towns where dispensaries and marijuana growing operations are proposed hosted by the state.

Some dispensaries have selected where they would like to operate, and residents will have a chance to say what they think.
