Poll: Conservative Iowa Voters Don't Care That Jeb Bush Smoked Marijuana 40 Years Ago

Jeb Bush was in the media a lot following the most recent Republican debate. During the debate Jeb Bush tried to make the case for opposing marijuana reform, and admitted that he had consumed marijuana forty years ago. The admission even came with a public apology to his mom. For some reason Jeb Bush thinks that people should go to jail for something that he did himself when he was younger, but never experienced any repercussions of marijuana prohibition because he grew up in a very privileged situation. Had Jeb Bush received the ‘marijuana scarlet letter’ himself, maybe he would think otherwise.

Hillary Clinton Confronted about Medical Marijuana by Iowa Mother

Despite Bernie Sanders’ surge, particularly in the first primary state of New Hampshire, Hillary Clinton remains the Democratic frontrunner and the odds-on favorite to be the next President of the United States. Thus, it remains extremely important that cannabis law reformers lobby Clinton to support sensible federal marijuana policies that build upon gains made under the Barack Obama Administration. Secretary Clinton hasn’t voiced the most progressive stances on marijuana policy in the past, actually out of step with her Democratic constituents. The Democratic frontrunner was confronted by an Iowa mother who made a desperate plea for the legalization of medical marijuana to help her daughter while Clinton was campaigning at the Iowa State Fair.

Iowa Family Fights To Get Their Daughter Access To Cannabis Oil

An Everly, Iowa family is braving all odds to get cannabis oil in to the state for their daughter, Shelby.

Although Iowa lawmakers made it legal for families like theirs to have the oil, it's still illegal to cross state lines to bring it here. But the family says they don't feel they're breaking the rules, just bending them a little.

"When your kid is going through that, you don't like to wait four years," Mike Heuck said.

Mike and Tammi Heuck's daughter Shelby was seizing dozens of times every day. They say instead of waiting for Iowa lawmakers to provide a cannabis oil option in state, they found success in Charlotte's Web, a kind of cannabis oil that can be shipped right to their home in Everly.

Synthetic marijuana hard to legislate

A Des Moines lawmaker is working with civil rights groups to draft legislation that would prohibit racial profiling by Iowa law enforcement officers and require agencies to create citizen boards to review profiling complaints.

In Iowa and across the United States, lawmakers and law enforcement have struggled to pass bills that keep up with the constantly changing chemicals used in synthetic marijuana.

The state Legislature failed to pass a bill this session that would have increased penalties for people convicted of selling synthetic drugs and making illegal chemicals used to manufacture the drugs.

It initially passed the Republican-controlled House, but the Democrat-controlled Senate added amendments the House ultimately rejected.

Iowa medical marijuana prompts parents to consider moving

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) - The Legislature's failure to expand Iowa's medical marijuana law has some parents of sick children looking to Minnesota.

Area lawmakers who worked to pass the proposed legislation suggested some Iowans may relocate to nearby states to access medicinal marijuana. Medical marijuana will be legal in limited form in Minnesota beginning July 1.

Some Cedar Falls families confirmed they're considering their options, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier (http://bit.ly/1MsWswE ) reported.

"Obviously, they have all these good things about their bill, but it's proximity. So, you just gave yourselves competition. Minnesota moved forward. You chose to stay stagnant," said Brienna Decker.

How Much Does Marijuana Impact Your Driving?

A new federal study has answers

A rigorous federal research study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse offers new data on the effects of marijuana on driving performance.

The exact impact of marijuana on driving ability is a controversial subject—and it’s become more important states continue to loosen their drug laws. And, while drunk driving is on the decline in the U.S., driving after having smoked or otherwise consumer marijuana has become more common. According to the most recent national roadside survey from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of weekend nighttime drivers, 8.3 percent had some alcohol in their system and 12.6 percent tested positive for THC—up from 8.6 percent in 2007.
