COLUMBUS -- A new Quinnipiac University Poll found that 84 percent of registered Ohio voters back legalizing medical-use marijuana. 14 percent oppose it.

A slender majority, however, supports legalizing it for personal use.

Quinnipiac University sampled voters in three key swing states. 84 percent of registered voters in Florida back medical marijuana legalization. In Pennsylvania, 88 percent of voters would OK it.

52 percent of Ohioans would approve legalizing small amounts of marijuana for personal use.

Ohio voters could face one or more issues on the November ballot from groups hoping to legalize marijuana in the state.

Support found in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida

A majority of voters in three key swing states support legalizing marijuana, according to a new poll.

The Quinnipiac survey out Monday shows that 55% of voters in Florida, 52% in Ohio and 51% in Pennsylvania support allowing adults to “legally possess small amounts of marijuana for personal use.” Legalizing medical marijuana is even more acceptable to swing state voters, with 84% of Floridians, 84% of Ohioans, and 88% of Pennsylvanians supporting medical pot.

Since the Department of Justice's unexpected policy announcement in December regarding marijuana in Indian Country, many tribes are carefully considering the unintended consequences of addressing their approach to marijuana. At the same time, tribes are entering into relationships or accepting advice from shysters who may be leading them down the garden path.

FLORENCE - Cassie Alegria looked on as her 4-year-old daughter Ava Rose zigged and zagged around kids and adults at a picnic area Sunday afternoon.

Ava, wearing a padded helmet and a onesie pajama, repeatedly tried to stick her face in a small kiddie pool, distressing Alegria.

Ana has Dravet syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy that begins in infancy. After years of using prescription drugs, the two moved to Colorado from Arizona in February to begin treatment with cannabis oil.

"We're just so isolated. Just the disease itself is isolating," Alegria said. "Being around families that get it is everything."

Prof. Markus Leweke is a medical doctor at the Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim, Germany, he's conducting research on pharmacological treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders, with a focus on cannabinoids.

 CANADIAN company is seeking to tap into the Jamaican market for the supply of dried marijuana to the medicinal marijuana industry in Canada.

Marketing director of FLOR, Raymond Grant, (the local agent for the company), toldThe Gleaner that 80 per cent of the shares of the company are owned by Jamaicans living in Canada who are ready to invest in Jamaica.

Grant has been meeting with local farmers and laying the groundwork for the development of a supply industry in Jamaica.

"I believe this is the first Canadian company formed to export cannabis from Jamaica to Canada. There are about 15 licensed dealers (in Canada), so we would be the wholesalers. We would supply the dealers in Canada. That is how we see our role," he said.

An Alabama Senate bill introduced last week would allow patients to legally possess and use marijuana prescribed by a medical doctor.

The Alabama Medical Marijuana Patient Safe Access Act would apply to “qualifying patients” with serious medical conditions, ranging from severe nausea to AIDS. The bill was read Thursday and is being considered in the Senate’s judiciary committee.

SB-326 is sponsored by Sen. Bobby Singleton, D- Greensboro, and a companion bill is expected to be filed Monday by Rep. John Rogers, D- Birmingham.

“There are doctors that want to prescribe marijuana for their patients because it works,” Singleton said in a written statement last week. “It just makes sense to let them.”

A new party campaigning for the relaxation of the laws on cannabis will spark up debate after it secured a party political broadcast in Northern Ireland.

Their breakthrough came last night when they recruited a third candidate to run for them, automatically qualifying them for a broadcast.

The party is called Cista (Cannabis Is Safer Than Alcohol) and its latest recruit is Neil Paine, a 45-year-old former British soldier who lives in Coleraine. He is standing in East Londonderry where he hopes to unseat Gregory Campbell of the DUP.

Or, at least, he hopes it will be.

Smith is among hundreds of people poring over regulations the state Department of Health released last week that paves the way for medical marijuana to be sold in New York State by early next year.

The complex set of rules sets in motion an application period that is expected to see a rush of businesses trying to get a foothold in the state’s medical marijuana industry.
