Dr. Adi Eran, who is heading up the endeavor, is in the process of obtaining permits from the Health Ministry for the study, which will involve 120 autistic individuals, male and female, aged 4 to 30, who are defined as low to medium functioning.

Vancouver Dispensary, Home to Canada's First Marijuana Vending Machine, Vows to Stay Open

Two years ago, the BC Pain Society’s marijuana dispensary at Commercial Drive and West 13th Avenue became an online sensation after it installed Canada’s first vending machine for pot.

Now, the organization’s owner is saying it will fight to keep the location open, despite an order to close by the city.

“They are saying they’re going to start some sort of enforcement on Saturday. I’m ready, I’ve been talking to a number of lawyers, and I’m looking at my options,” says Chuck Varabioff, owner of the BC Pain Society.

“I don’t agree with it. I don’t agree with it at all. We’re providing a service here for sick people.”

Fields of Green: An Inside Look at How Medical Marijuana Is Made in New York

Tucked in the rolling hills of Orange County, New York, inside a row of anonymous buildings and behind doors bristling with security, is an operation few have ever seen.

Welcome to Pharmacann, one of five companies licensed by the State of New York to manufacture and distribute medical marijuana. In giant greenhouses covering the equivalent of three football fields are fields of green in every sense.

“The term factory is a little bit of an understatement, because these are state of the art manufacturing facilities,” said Jeremy Unruh.

Unruh is a former prosecutor and the general counsel for Pharmacann. He says what you see in these facilities is an industry that’s taking root.

Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Supporters Hit Ballot Title Snag Ahead Of November Election

It looks much less likely a proposed constitutional amendment to legalize medical marijuana in Oklahoma will appear on the ballot this fall.

On Thursday Attorney General Scott Pruitt submitted a revised ballot title for State Question 788. The ballot title explains what’s at stake to voters, and the group Oklahomans for Health argues Pruitt’s language is misleading and political, The Tulsa World’s Barbara Hoebrock reports:

Got the Munchies? Pot Brownies and Candy Central to Massachusetts Marijuana Legalization Debate

The butter shortbread and oatmeal raisin cookies from Better Baked in Denver look like cookies in any supermarket. But take a few bites and you might get high. The cookies are infused with marijuana.

Beginning in October, the wholesale distributor of marijuana edibles will need to mark the bottom of the cookies, which they will do using a powdered sugar-like substance, with a diamond and the notation "THC," indicating that they contain the active ingredient in marijuana.

That is just one of the latest regulatory changes Colorado is making as its recreational marijuana industry grows and the market for edible products like pot brownies and candy has taken off.

New Poll Shows More Support for Medicinal Cannabis Law Reform in New Zealand

The tide is turning on medicinal cannabis law reform, with a new poll showing only one in eight people oppose safe and legal access to medicinal cannabis products prescribed by licensed doctors.

Former Council of Trade Unions (CTU) president Helen Kelly said the results put pressure on the Government to act now, rather than wait for a potential referendum in the future.

"Politicians now have the choice – force those who are mainly unwell to collect signatures simply so the public will be believed, or act quickly and with mercy and fix this mess up so people like me and many others have safe and legal guaranteed access."

Mylan's CEO pay structure incentivizes EpiPen price hikes

Despite all of the scrutiny and anger directed at Mylan, the maker of the EpiPen allergy treatment, the company's CEO will not say firmly that the price of the drug will be lowered after increasing by about 500% in less than a decade.

When asked about the matter, Mylan CEO Heather Bresch told CNBC only that she would be looking forward to working with Washington to find solutions for problems in the US healthcare system.

Not really an answer, you may notice.

In fact, it's reasonable to assume that — until this week, at least — Mylan would have kept increasing the price of EpiPen through 2018.

Canadian doctors want feds to regulate THC levels in marijuana

The Canadian Medical Association says 72 per cent of doctors who responded to a survey it conducted want the federal government to regulate THC levels in recreational marijuana.

A total of 788 doctors, or 19 per cent of the total number of doctors who received the online survey, responded to it earlier this summer, the group’s annual meeting heard Wednesday.

Dr. Jeff Blackmer, vice-president of medical professionalism at the association, said the survey was based on federal Health Minister Jane Philpott’s request for feedback from physicians.

“We really want to take a public health view to this and represent the views of physicians the same way we would on other issues, for example, smoking or alcohol use,” he told the meeting.
