Last year, Transport Canada revealed that airplane travelers will be allowed to fly with cannabis in their cargo.

This, of course, included a few stipulations. Among them: carry-on rules still apply for liquids, Canadians must be traveling to a domestic destination, and they couldn’t exceed 30 grams of cannabis on their person, which is the legal amount for personal use in Canada anyways.

But now, WestJet is giving Twitter recommendations to its Canadian passengers on how to fly with weed. WestJet is the second-largest Canadian airline carrier with service also extending to the United States, Europe, Central America, and beyond. Still, it’s rather odd to witness a major airline instructing passengers how to pack their stash properly.

The deadline is quickly approaching for landlords who want to restrict cannabis smoking on their properties — by Jan. 15 tenants need to be advised that their lease is changing to include a ban.

Once tenants receive notice of the proposed change to their lease, they have 30 days to contest it to the Régie du logement.

Kevin Lebeau, spokesperson for the Quebec Landlords Association, said there are many reasons a landlord might not want their tenants smoking pot. 

For one, they want to make sure their dwelling isn't seeped in cannabis smoke, he said. 

"Second of all, it can also constitute a nuisance for other tenants," Lebeau said.

Although Health Canada insists current product levels are adequate to meet demand overall, there may be local shortages in the supply of certain products and strains.

Marijuana, long snuck on to college and university campuses for use in bongs and joints, is now being grown legally at several academic institutions across the country.

Eight academic institutions have obtained licences from Health Canada to cultivate cannabis for scientific purposes, allowing them to closely study the drug that was legalized for recreational use in October.

Some received special licences a few months before legalization and will be moving to licences with fewer restrictions in the future.

The University of Guelph is one of them.

Some call it reckless, others see it as trailblazing, but no matter how you look at it on Oct. 17, 2018, Cannabis became a fully legal commodity in Canada. After nearly 100 years of prohibition, Canada has ushered in an entirely new industry which has wide-ranging implications for nearly every facet of society.
