Postal Service Stops Newspapers From Cashing In On Legal Marijuana

The marijuana industry has blossomed from a back alley trade to a thriving $3 billion industry, but the U.S. Postal Service just told the newspaper industry they wouldn’t be cashing in.

Recreational marijuana is legal in Oregon, but not at the federal level and that’s what prompted the Portland USPS office to issue a warning to area newspapers not to run paid marijuana ads, according to Fox News.

Oregon clean air rules may spell trouble for marijuana clubs and cafes

New clean air rules prohibiting marijuana smoking and vaping in work and public places may spell the end for Portland's cottage industry of lounges and clubs where people light up and hang out.

A Multnomah County tobacco program specialist visited the World Famous Cannabis Café in Southeast Portland earlier this week to follow up on a complaint about a member of the public about smoking in the establishment. During the visit, Erik Vidstrand told café owner Madeline Martinez that cannabis smoking and vaping won't be legal in her club starting Jan. 1.

A bill that would allow for stronger varieties of pot as medical marijuana in Florida unanimously cleared its second Senate review panel.

The Appropriations Subcommittee on Criminal and Civil Justice OK’d the measure (SB 460) on Thursday.

State Sen. Rob Bradley, the Fleming Island Republican behind the bill, said it was aimed at allowing stronger but still non-smokeable marijuana for terminally ill patients. It would be made into an infused oil to ingest.

The Science of Cannabis Institute Hopes to Offer the State's First Accredited Program for Medical Marijuana Consultants

A couple Saturdays ago, I took a class for the first time in years. It wasn't to relearn algebra (although I have definitely forgotten it), but to become a certified cannabis worker. The four-hour course, which is offered by the Science of Cannabis Institute (SCI) and is held on the University of Washington campus, is the first of its kind in Washington State, part of a growing cannabis education industry. The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) recently announced that it would create a medical marijuana consultant certification program, and SCI hopes to be the first accredited institution to offer it.

Strain Names: How We Got Here

Before the dispensary circus of ‘09 in Colorado, black-market growers, and dealers were coming up with strain names as fast as they could counterfeit big-name brands. Your dealer would explain to you the amazingness of his primo dankness through the strain name, because most dealers aren’t sophisticated enough to go into further details. Mr. Dealer might ask you, “You know AK-47 homie? Well this is AK-48! What do you know about weed a step better than the best?” Yes there is really a strain called AK-48. Kat Williams made fun of the name bragging game during one of his skits: “This shit right here. This-this shit right here
