Generation Health recalls K-Puff, other vape oils for pesticide concerns

 

Denver marijuana shop Generation Health has voluntarily recalled more than 2,600 vape pens and concentrates over the presence of potentially dangerous pesticides, according to the city of Denver’s Department of Environmental Health.

The recall is the city’s 20th pesticide-based marijuana recall since Sept. 8, when it announced its first recall involving cannabis extracts manufactured by Mahatma Concentrates.

All 2,665 of the newly recalled vape pens and oils are labeled as Generation Health, according to the city. The contaminated plants were grown by Generation Health’s cultivation, which does business as Patient’s Plus, and the recalled products were manufactured by the shop’s infusions company CC Foods.

Colorado's Legal Marijuana Industry Is Worth $1 Billion

Legal pot sales jumped by more than 42% in Colorado last year, pushing the Centennial State’s revenue from marijuana taxes and fees to a new high.

Colorado saw $996.2 million in legal sales of medical and recreational pot in 2015, according to the Denver Post‘s calculations of tax data reported this week (and throughout 2015) by the state’s Department of Revenue. In 2014, the state’s legal pot vendors sold roughly $699 million of the drug.

Canada: City of Victoria moves to regulate medical marijuana dispensaries

The City of Victoria is asking for public input on proposed regulations targeting medical marijuana dispensaries.

The new rules would cover such issues as preventing storefront medical marijuana retailers from being any closer than 200m from any school or from each other.

They call for no signage of any kind that would allow minors to know the business sells medical marijuana.

And they cannot be open for business between 8 pm and 7 am.

The City says there are currently 30 medical marijuana-related businesses in Victoria including 26 storefront operations.

Mayor Lisa Helps says one aim of the proposed regulations is to reduce that number,

California lawmakers propose 15 percent marijuana sales tax

California would levy a new 15 percent tax on medical marijuana sales to enforce new regulations and pay for state programs, rehabilitation and parks under a bill introduced Wednesday.

The Marijuana Value Tax Act could bring the state more than $100 million in new revenue. The tax was anticipated after the state passed historic regulations last year that requires state and local licenses for medical marijuana businesses under the new Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulations.

The DEA Investigates Cannabis-Oil Company True North Extracts

Federal agents searched the homes of True North’s owners after its facility was shut down in December.

For more than a year, the Portland company True North Extracts has sold a marijuana product it says is pure, safe and legal.

True North manufactures and sells CO2 oil—a marijuana concentrate made by stripping compounds like THC from the plant using compressed carbon dioxide. Users inhale the gooey, amber oil through vaporizer pens.

True North sells its vape-pen cartridges at medical marijuana dispensaries, advertising its product as free from the chemical solvents in some cannabis oils.
