How Austria Became Europe's Cannabis Clone Superstore

For those who want to legally grow huge amounts of cannabis in Austria, business is booming — but not yet blooming.

The Austrian Narcotics Act prohibits the cultivation of cannabis only for the purpose of obtaining narcotics, and THC can be obtained only from cannabis flower. But if you promise your intent isn’t for consumption or sale, and swear you won't let the plants flower, you can buy truckloads of clones. More than 250,000 clones are sold annually in the capital city of Vienna alone.

The Fastest-Growing Demographic Of Marijuana Users Will Surprise You

When it comes to marijuana use, you’d likely expect someone in their late teens or early twenties to be considered the fastest-growing demographic within the space.

However, based on a recent study, the fastest-growing demographic of marijuana users is much, much, older than you’d expect.

In a recent video uploaded to YouTube by CBS This Morning, it is said that between 2013 and 2014, the number of marijuana users ages 55-and-older increased from 2,812,000 to 4,309,000.

The footage takes viewers inside Harborside Health Center, a California pot shop, where the demographic was most present as Barry Petersen interviewed users on their conditions and how marijuana helps treat what ails them.

Toronto's marijuana crackdown follows heavy lobbying by legal pot producers

TORONTO — This week’s crackdown on illegal marijuana dispensaries in Toronto comes after an intense lobbying campaign by licensed pot producers, who became alarmed by the brazen growth of the black market and the threat it poses to the industry.

Dispensaries began receiving hand-delivered notices from police on Wednesday, reminding them that their businesses are unlawful and they could face significant fines. These actions came less than a week after Mayor John Tory issued a letter calling dispensaries to be reined in.

“This is a long time coming,” said Cam Battley, chair of the advocacy committee for Cannabis Canada, an industry association for licensed pot companies.

“We warned the municipal government last fall that things were getting out of hand.”

Is your cannabis clean? Colorado pesticide recalls pull pot products off shelves

Local dispensaries are pulling pot products from their shelves with yet another batch of recalls hitting cannabis wholesalers statewide. The latest, a voluntary recall by Avicenna Products, affects more than 80,000 concentrates — including wax, budder and vape pen cartridges — that were found to contain traces of pesticides.

The company announced on May 13 that samples of the products contained residual levels of Myclobutanil, Imidacloprid, Spiromesifin and/or Etoxazole — all pesticides the Colorado Department of Agriculture determined cannot be used legally on marijuana.
