iGROW opens four regional offices to launch their B to B sales strategy

“Being local is one of the keys to success in this industry” says Cary Senders, who along with his brother Eric are the managing partners of FSS Hydro LLC of Beachwood, Ohio and manufacturers of iGROW. iGROW is an agricultural lighting technology company using induction lighting as its light source.

iGROW induction is an alternate light technology that has gained a significant foothold in the cannabis industry, in no small part due to the company’s strategy of having local offices in every major market. “Being headquartered in Ohio, currently a non-medicinal state, was a challenge for us, since all the major markets are located out west. It also became clear as we got heavier into this industry that growers prefer to work with locals.”

MAKING THE ‘GRASS’ GREENER: MARIJUANA AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Improving cannabis’ environmental impact is a growing concern and a priority for Greening Corporate Cannabis founder Jonathan Valdman. PLUS, 5 top-level ways to reduce indoor production’s carbon footprint.

A bit of irony just might exist in the marijuana industry.

Prohibition forced marijuana growers “into the closet” and under artificial lights. “A whole industry developed,” says Jonathan Valdman, founder of the environmentally focused organization Greening Corporate Cannabis (GCC).

As legalization continues to spread like (pardon the overused pun) a weed, marijuana’s indoor growing habits have grown right alongside the new, legal industry.

What It Takes to Build a Business in a Legal Grey Area

Disruptive businesses make the headlines, but they also face real risks. Why you need to tread carefully around the law

Years ago, I worked as a waitress at a popular independent brew pub with an origin story that was the stuff of local legend. The proprietor had bought a heritage building, outfitted it with expensive brewing equipment and hired a full-time brewmaster to develop premium ales and lagers. He had just one problem: It wasn’t yet legal for an establishment in Ontario to produce and sell its own beer on-site. He started the business anyway, shilling sandwiches and sodas until the law changed and allowed the pub to sell the suds that have made it a prosperous business for nearly 30 years.

Doctors Can Begin To Sign Qualified Patients Up For Medical Marijuana in Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minnesota officials can now start signing up qualified patients for medical marijuana. This comes one month before medical marijuana becomes available, by law, from state-run dispensaries.

Minnesota Medical Solutions CEO Dr. Kyle Kingsley said their growing facility at a high-security location in Otsego is on schedule, harvesting plants and extracting elements that go into pills and liquids.

“We are ready, we are producing at capacity,” Kingsley said. “We are looking at probably final medicines that could be given to patients here in the next few weeks.”

Medical Marijuana Feeds Familiar Hopes of Renewal Around New York State

Don Crawford on his family's farm in Wallkill, N.Y., which is adjacent to property where a company wants to produce medical marijuana. Mr. Crawford supports the proposal.

By Anemona Hartocollis

WALLKILL, N.Y. — Don Crawford comes from a long line of Orange County farmers. Though he no longer tends dairy cows, he still cuts hay for the thriving equestrian industry, and cringes at the creep of the suburbs.

So when a stranger came to town and announced plans to grow marijuana on the fallow land next to his, Mr. Crawford was thrilled.

“It’s better than a bunch of houses,” he said.
