The soybean looper is a destructive pest on soybeans capable of defoliating fields if left unchecked. It can be difficult to control because of its resistance to many insecticides. LSU AgCenter scientists are looking at a novel way to increase the efficacy of pesticides to better control insects such as the soybean looper using nanotechnology.

This cannabis oil extractor was designed by a former U.S. Navy submarine engineer

Like a number of companies making good in the growing national marijuana industry, Ohio-based Apeks Supercritical is getting in on the “green rush” by marketing and selling its botanical oil extraction systems to buyers in the legal cannabis industry, Director of Sales Shawn E. The C02 extraction systems are cleaner than other extraction solvents, which leave more chemical residue, and can be used to make any number of oil extracts such as vanilla and saffron extract, Litterini said.

Approval Process for Marijuana Apps Often Hazy

Apps don’t make it into the Google or Apple app stores without those companies’ approval. For marijuana-related apps, the approval process is hazier.

Approval delays and rejections stem from conflicting state and federal laws, and a lack of guidelines for cannabis apps, Yahoo Finance reports.

Some apps have been approved only to be kicked out of app stores later. Some are later re-approved.

The app for MassRoots, a social media network for pot smokers, was booted from Apple’s App Store after 14 months, Yahoo reports.

Medical marijuana biotechs join forces

PHYTOTECH Medical and MMJ Bioscience have joined forces to become the first Australian-listed medical marijuana company to control pharmaceutical hemp from farm to pharmacy counter.

THE re-branded MMJ PhytoTech will control the complete supply chain from cultivation to distribution after Phytotech raised $4.8 million to buy MMJ Bioscience.

MMJ PhytoTech chief executive Andreas Gedeon said the merger made the company one of the only serious players in the medical marijuana market.

"If you don't own the supply chain the company can't exist because you can't buy the cannabinoil compounds, it has to be sourced from plants," he said.

Desperately seeking marijuana lover: New dating apps help connect cannabis fans

High There is a mobile dating app for people involved in the cannabis industry, or anyone interested in meeting people from the marijuana community. The app launched in February and has since been downloaded by 150,000 users and is available free on Apple and Android devices worldwide.
