Watch: Man Trains Bees To Make Honey From Marijuana

Many are calling him a genius. The man is an artisan, locksmith and above all else, he explains, he is a beekeeper.

He has over 4300 Facebook followers and 700 on Instagram after the 39-year-old Frenchman, who describes himself as an advocate of medical cannabis and of complete marijuana legalization, trained bees to make honey from marijuana.

He goes by the nickname of Nicolas Trainerbees, for obvious reasons.

For 20 years, he has worked with bees in a way where he claims he is able to “train” them to make honey from virtually anything.

“I have trained bees to do several things, such as collect sugar from fruits, instead of using flowers,” he explains.

MyDx's Award Winning Handheld Analyzer Moves to Market

SEATTLE, WA - The reliability of cannabis testing has become a challenge in an industry that GreenWave Advisors believes could reach $35 billion by 2020. With tens of thousands of products recalled for illegal pesticide use, cannabis consumers face a lot of uncertainty when buying products off dispensary shelves. Separate studies have shown that THC and CBD concentrations are regularly mislabeled and could create problems for medical and recreational users alike. There is no quick, easy, or affordable way for consumers to test cannabis safety and composition.

10 Terpenes Found in Cannabis

One of the most appealing parts of cannabis is the scents and flavors associated with the various varieties of the plant. Organic compounds known as terpenes are produced by most plants as a defense against herbivores, who otherwise would consume them, and as semiochemicals that serve to communicate chemically with other living things. There are over 120 different types of terpenes that can be expressed by the cannabis plant, although some are only found in trace amounts.

Terpenes make up between five and 10 percent of the total oils that are produced in the trichrome glands. Although they are constantly being produced, they’re easily vaporized by heat and daylight throughout the day, making the morning an ideal time to harvest.

Alexis Bortell, a 10-Year-Old Medical Marijuana Exile, Returns to Texas to Cheer on Reformers

Alexis Bortell speaks to a crowd of marijuana advocates and concerned parents on Sunday at the Southwest Cannabis Conference & Expo in downtown Fort Worth.

Alexis Bortell stands behind the podium, atop a stepping stool, addressing a packed house at the Southwest Cannabis Conference & Expo in downtown Fort Worth. She doesn’t look like the face of decriminalization. She’s not even old enough to buy the glass pipes being sold just a few aisles over. But she’s the star in the fight for a new marijuana policy in Texas, and the seats filled quickly at the convention center as she made her way to the podium.

GW Pharma (GWPH) and PharmaCyte (PMCB), for example, are driving development of new cannabinoid drug candidates for serious diseases, including epilepsy and cancer, as potential alternatives to chemotherapy and other standards of care that are known to cause serious adverse events.

Maximizing cannabis: Scientists shift from the lab to the legal marijuana industry

For decades and until recently the science behind marijuana took place in the dark; as growers, agricultural researchers, scientists and others experimented with ways to create the heartiest and most potent strains of cannabis.

A lot of that work was, or course, kept quiet due to marijuana’s outlaw stance as well as the growers’ competitive natures.

But over the past several years there’s been a shifting of scientific research from the university lab toward legal cannabis businesses. And in one particular case that shift might bring benefits to not only the legal cannabis industry but to the broader agriculture sector as well.
