The first quarter and beyond saw marijuana stocks rocked off of the high perch they reached near the end of last year. Firm sees a future in marijuana tablets

Later this week a familiar story will play out when a private medical marijuana company, Canntab Therapeutics Limited, merges with a shell, Telferscot Resources Inc., and starts trading on the Canadian Securities Exchange, thereby providing investors with yet another way to play the marijuana industry.

But this transaction is different in a couple of ways: first it will bring to an end the seven-year hunt by Telferscot — which went public in 2011 as a mineral exploration company — to find either a permanent partner or a permanent business.

Healthy cannabis roots equal bigger marijuana yields

Long, white, and hairy. Healthy roots result in bigger yields for marijuana gardens.

One of the single most important factors of how well a marijuana plant will grow, and how much it can yield, is the health and strength of its root system.

Below the surface of your growing medium, the root mass is comprised of a tangled web of roots that store sugars and starches (cannabis plant food) and transport needed minerals to the plant. The marijuana plants roots are covered in millions of small hairs that absorb water and minerals from the surrounding root zone.

Take the case of Terra Tech Corp (OTCMKTS: TRTC), which was a microcap darling in 2016, but has fallen on harder times in 2017.

California to Require All Marijuana to be Lab Tested. What Will Happen to Weed That Fails the Lab?

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the state’s proposals for the required lab testing of cannabis. If passed as written, all marijuana products will be examined in licensed laboratories for moisture content, pesticide presence, and other elements before it can be sold to the public.

For some dispensaries across California, these regulations may significantly change the way they do business. But in Berkeley, where the city mandated strict testing in years ago, it’s more or less par for the course.
