Cannabidiol treatment: doctors versus patients

12 January, 2015

A survey about using marijuana-based treatments appears to have split opinions between people with epilepsy and the doctors who treat them. Specialists warn there is not yet enough evidence to support their use

The survey findings were presented in the medical journal Epilepsia. Researchers conducted the survey online between 20 May 2014 and 1 September. It was open to anyone – researchers, medical professionals, patients and their families.

Marijuana Growing Has to Change Its Energy-Hogging Ways

Jan. 10 (Bloomberg) -- In Washington state, a land of tall evergreens and high-minded environmental principles, one wonders what could be greener than a pot farm. Think again.

Initial regulations of the state’s new legal marijuana industry seem to favor energy-guzzling indoor operations over outdoor farms. How did that happen?

After Washington voters legalized recreational marijuana more than a year ago, regulators created a system whereby the pot sold in 334 state-licensed private stores must be grown in-state and tracked “seed to sale.” The new rules limit marijuana farms to 30,000 square feet.

Indoor enterprises can yield three or four crops a year, while outdoor farms can only produce one or two.

Are Your Marijuana Products Adequately Labeled To Protect You From Lawsuits?

What would happen if you failed to provide adequate label warnings for marijuana (including concentrates or oils) and marijuana-infused edible products, and someone was hurt by it? The answer may lie in what is referred to as “strict product liability for failure-to-warn.”

Some US military Veterans are allowed to use cannabis medicinally. Some are not.

Clinical cannabis use is not decided by the military patient’s need for her medicine but rather by where she lives. This practice is of course totally illogical. Considering the source of this decision, the war on drugs mentality, it is not surprising. Realizing that Veterans are not being treated for their injuries properly, is not surprising to me. I’m a Vietnam Veteran and I have seen this all before.Treatment by geography can be looked on as a win for Veterans, some Vets. Before this protocol was adopted by the Veterans Health Administration, in July of 2010, there was no cannabis allowed medicinally for any service member.

Getting in Shape with a Cannabis-Infused Life

If you’re like most Americans, losing a few extra pounds is your goal for 2015. With holiday season in the rearview mirror and all of the leftovers finished, it’s the perfect time to get in shape.  While the idea of working out and using cannabis seem like diametrically opposed concepts to the anti-legalization crowd, it’s a movement that’s gaining steam in Denver—and people are seeing results.

The Pro Athlete

Clifford Drusinsky, 39, is the opposite of the “typical stoner” stereotype. With his own gym, a line of edibles in the works, and three Australian Shepherds, he’s a busy guy. He also placed at nine different triathlons in 2013. What separates Drusinsky’s workouts from others? Cannabis-infused edibles.

Pot tourism grows in Colo. even as officials refuse to endorse it

Look all you want, and you'll find nary a marijuana tourism brochure at kiosks operated by Colorado's official travel bureaus.

Yet that institutional prohibition hasn't stopped thousands of cannabis tourists from visiting Colorado to experience the phenomenon of legal marijuana.

"This is just awesome," said Mike Goldstein of Staten Island, N.Y., who visited Denver with three friends in early December. "I think it should be legal everywhere. You raise taxes, and you take it out of the hands of organized crime."
