People in northern Paraguay town seize truck with marijuana confiscated by anti-drug agents

Authorities in Paraguay say people in a northern town seized a truck loaded with marijuana that had been confiscated by drug enforcement agents.
Paraguay’s anti-drug office said the agents found the pot hidden under logs Wednesday in the town of Jose Felix Lopez, some 370 miles (600 kilometers) north of the capital.
It said that on Thursday a crowd surrounded the agents and disarmed them, then drove away the truck with the pot.
The weapons were returned after the truck was out of sight. Officials said the agents hadn’t had time to weigh the load.
No one has been arrested.

Uruguay aims to produce 6-10 tons of marijuana a year

Uruguay, the world's first country to legalize marijuana, is aiming to produce between six and 10 tons of pot a year for local use, a senior government official told AFP.

National Drug Board chief Milton Romani told AFP in an interview that the pot would be distributed through pharmacies and sold to registered users at $1.40 a gram.

Almost everything is set so that sales can begin, Romani said. Officials need to choose companies to distribute the weed, and "we just need to fine-tune the software for registration and pharmacy sales," he said.

'Largest' ganja seizure ever in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AFP) — Twelve tons of marijuana being smuggled from Paraguay into Argentina aboard a tanker truck were seized Friday in an affluent suburb of Buenos Aires, officials said.

The driver, a Paraguayan national, was held for questioning.

Daniel Scioli, the governor of Buenos Aires province, called it the "largest seizure in the history" of his country.

Scioli will face a conservative rival, Mauricio Macri, in a run-off for the Argentine presidency on November 22.

The police operation Friday took place in San Isidro, a northern suburb of the Argentine capital and one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the region.

With restrictions on medical marijuana, Brazil boycotting their future

Laws should never be made to block the access of patients to medicines

Since the beginning of colonization until the early 20th century, many Brazilians legally cultivated marijuana, including the government itself.

Uruguay, Chile, Canada, Israel, 24 US states, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Czech Republic, Spain, the Netherlands and Switzerland are examples of places in the world where it is possible to buy with relative ease medicines made of cannabis base extracts, plant or natural herb.
