How to create your own cannabis social club and not die trying

Cannabis social clubs are associations that distribute and stock up on cannabis among their members, all of them of legal age. They function in the private sphere, thus reducing the risks associated with the black market and indiscriminate growing. These not-for-profit associations have arisen in countries where marijuana use has been decriminalized – as it is the case of Spain – to cover the needs of smokers who may have the right to consume, but not the right to grow or have restricted rights to do so. Find here below different requirements to start a cannabis club in Spain and succeed in the attempt:

1) Creation and registration

Vaporizers, e-cigs of the pot world, are booming

LOS ANGELES — Chris Folkerts started selling electronic cigarette-like devices from the trunk of his car two years ago. Now he and two partners own one of the biggest brands in the business, with products in 4,000 stores nationally, an art deco office on the city's fashionable Miracle Mile and an endorsement deal with rapper Snoop Dogg.

The rapid success of Grenco Science, the privately held company Folkerts founded, mirrors the fast growth of the business it is in — marketing devices that allow marijuana users to vaporize their psychoactive weed rather than smoke it.

"This is a big industry — it is the future,'' Folkerts, 31, says. "We're really on the cusp of exploding.''

Weeding out ganja myths

Ian Boyne

We are so intoxicated about the prospects of escaping our perennial poverty through the booming US$140-billion global ganja business that we couldn't care less about any scientific evidence which might exist about its potential harm. Ganja market and investment enthusiasts - not to mention Rastafarians like Michael Lorne - are so high over decriminalisation that they are impatient of discussion of any negative effect of ganja smoking.

Day #1 MCBikeTour 2014 - Medical Cannabis BikeTour

So, Day 1 on the ride. We have 130km to make, through Valencia, from Onda to the historic town of Tortosa.

OK, so maybe we are not the early birds… it was a late night at the local Pizzaria the night before. But, by 10am our band of international brothers and sisters are ready to hit the road.

We leave Onda in glorious sunshine, riding across mostly flat country, where orange tree orchards and olive trees line the road.

We are much bigger than last year, 50 people coming together and a lot new faces to get to know. The morning isn’t the smoothest operation, the Spanish countryside can play tricks… and so there may have been a few wrong turns along the road to lunch. But we get there in the end!

Westmoreland ganja farmers to launch own association

Western Bureau:

Renowned Rastafarian elder Ras Iyah V, who serves on the Rastafari Millennium Council and is chairman of the Rastafari Coral Gardens Committee, says he will be spearheading the formation of a Westmoreland Ganja Farmers' Association, which is separate from the proposed national body.

"I see no guarantee that the interest of those of us who have borne the brunt of the victimisation - even prison sentences for ganja - will be represented by the national body," he said.

In an open letter to then Prime Minister P.J. Patterson, which was published in The Gleaner on January 15, 2006; Ras Iyah V, who was instrumental in the 1996 Ganja March in Kingston, made an impassioned plea for the decriminalisation of ganja.

The Effect of Cannabis on Pregnant Women & Newborns

It's almost too taboo to discuss: pregnant women & marijuana. It's a dirty little secret for women, particularly during the harrowing first trimester, who turn to cannabis for relief from nausea and stress.

Pregnant women in Jamaica use marijuana regularly to relieve nausea, as well as to relieve stress and depression, often in the form of a tea or tonic.

In the late 1960s, grad student Melanie Dreher was chosen by her professors to perform an ethnographic study on marijuana use in Jamaica to observe and document its usage and its consequences among pregnant women.

Intoxicating financial prospects for ganja trade - Changing foreign laws seen as business opportunity

Richard Browne, Business Reporter

The legalisation of marijuana for recreational purposes in the state of Colorado, United States, has pushed prices up to US$400 (J$42,448) per ounce as demand quickly outpaced supply in that market.

The price spike has created a differential between legal Colorado marijuana and the illegal Jamaican product of some $41,988 per ounce, and has given even greater impetus to the drive to legalise the crop here.

Those efforts were previously held back as Jamaica was "always concerned about US policy", said Delano Seiveright, director for the Ganja Law Reform Coalition.
