Was it because of the marijuana-Cloud?

BERLIN - They seemed euphoric, left at the same time, seemed to come to new insights. The Kreuzberg "MyFest" was on May 1 under a thick cloud of marijuana.

No corner, no road without the sweet grass smell, many of the 40,000 people seemed intoxicated. Is that the reason why the violence faded into the background?

Interior Senator Frank Henkel (CDU): "That was numerically the most peaceful May 1 there has been since the start of the riots in 1987."

45 arrests, 41 of the 6,554 police officers deployed injured slightly, but all remained on duty. Only a few stones and bottles thrown at officers during the "Revolutionary May 1st demonstration".

Henkel: "The spark is not jumping. The dominance of violence be broken. "

There's going to be a great big march for cannabis today in Dublin

IT’S A THORNY issue in Irish society (and almost all others too), but today will see a march in Dublin for the side of the argument that want to see reform of Ireland’s cannabis laws.

The Global Cannabis March, which is expected to attract in excess of 2,000 people, is being organised by NORML (National Organisation for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) Ireland and will march on Dáil Eireann later today.

Ciarán Maher, director at NORML, spoke to TheJournal.ie about the march, and about what he thinks the future is for cannabis in this country.

“Basically we’re calling on the government to regulate cannabis,” says Maher.

NFL blowing smoke on marijuana usage

Shane Ray, left, the Missouri pass rusher selected by Denver Broncos in the first round of the NFL Draft, holds his team jersey with his mother Sebrina Johnson after a news conference Friday, May 1, 2015, in Englewood. (David Zalubowski, The Associated Press)

Let's call a cease-fire on the NFL's senseless war against marijuana.

When Broncos rookie Shane Ray messes up and gets pulled over by police with 35 grams of marijuana in his car, he needs to answer to his mom, not NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

"My mom just started crying," Ray said, when I asked how he broke the news to Sebrina Johnson about getting busted for pot possession 80 hours before the draft's opening bell.

Thousands Expected At Global Marijuana March In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW) – A global march for marijuana rights takes place tomorrow – and one of the largest rallies in the Southwest United States will be in downtown Fort Worth.

Organizers are expecting about 5,000 people to converge in downtown Fort Worth at noon Saturday to call for changes in marijuana laws.

Shaun McAlister, the Executive Director of the DFW chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, says too many people are being treated as criminals for possessing marijuana.

“People have had their kids taken away, drivers license, student aid  – all of these things you stand to lose, especially in Texas, if you are caught with a little bit of weed. It’s absurd.” said McAlister.

Peachland industrial-style marijuana grow ready for first crop

The Interior’s largest medical marijuana grow is about to sprout its first crop. The first crop will be . . . strawberries?

The strawberries will be a test crop to work out the intricacies of the system, which is extensive and expensive beyond the dreamiest visions of Cheech and Chong.

After the strawberry run-through, the farm will produce marijuana for a market of 1,000 people already signed up for delivery of the doctor-prescribed pharmaceutical.

The 12,000 square-foot building at the top of Peachland on Paradise Valley Dr. is in a different league than the usual grow, starting with the security.

Barbed wire, of course. That’s easy.

An 'Aging Hippie' Has Opened a 'Cannabis Cafe and Hotel' in England

"As you can tell from the empties, we've had a few people over this weekend," says 57-year-old Jonathan Falkus as we stumble past his overflowing recycling bins, crammed to the gills with bottles, and into the front room of his flat.

Located in the middle of a Guildford housing estate, Jonathan refers to his flat as a "Cannabis Café and Hotel." But, inside, it looks less like a fledgling business initiative intent on getting UK cannabis laws changed—or a hotel of any description—and more the home of a man who very much enjoys smoking weed.
