The first infused pre-roll just launched in Canada. What took so long?

Infused pre-rolls are joints that have kief, hash, shatter, or other cannabis extracts added to the flower to punch up the potency. “These joints are ‘to-the-moon’ level,” is how Graham Farrar, president of Glass House Brands, which trades on Canada’s NEO Exchange, described the company’s line of infused pre-rolls that launched in California last month. “Their flavour and effects provide the kind of rich, unforgettable cannabis experience that we aim for in everything we do,” he added.

Kawartha Lakes Police dispose of 8,000 pounds of abandoned marijuana plants in Lindsay

Kawartha Lakes police occasionally need to assist landlords when it comes to evictions, but it hardly ever involves having to remove more than 8,000 pounds of marijuana. “It was certainly an unusual situation,” said Kawartha Lakes Police Service Chief Mark Mitchell of the Aug. 26 removal and disposal of property left behind by a Mount Hope “tenant” who had been operating a Health Canada-approved cannabis production operation.

“The thing is, they were approved for 880 plants, and officers would up removing more than 10,000.”

Marijuana Legalization Not Associated with Upticks in Vehicular Accidents Resulting in Emergency Room Visits

cars in traffic

The enactment of adult-use marijuana sales in Canada is not associated with any increase in motor vehicle injuries requiring hospitalization, according to data published in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence.

A team of investigators affiliated with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and with University of British Columbia assessed emergency department records in two provinces (Alberta and Ontario) to determine trends in traffic-injury emergency department visits in the months immediately prior to and immediately after legalization.

Canada’s marijuana legalization provides lessons to the world on selling cannabis

canadian flag

In October 2018, Canada became the first G20 country to legalize the recreational use of cannabis. Over the past three years, the province of Ontario — to name just one Canadian jurisdiction — has moved away from having a significantly under-serviced retail market to one that is heavily saturated.

The Cannabis Act (Bill C-45) provided the rules and regulations around the production, distribution, sale and possession of cannabis. However, there are significant differences in each province’s and territory’s retail framework — private, public or hybrid — and the legal age for consumption, purchasing options and personal possession limits.

WADA to review cannabis ban for athletes

An advisory group to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will review whether cannabis should remain a banned substance, a move that comes after American track and field star Sha’Carri Richardson missed the Tokyo Games after testing positive for it.

The scientific review will be initiated next year, WADA said on Tuesday. Cannabis is currently prohibited in competition and will continue to be in 2022, the agency added. (PHOTO BY PATRICK SMITH/GETTY IMAGES)

Richardson tested positive for a chemical found in cannabis during the U.S. Olympic Track & Field trials in June, which wiped out her trial results. She was also hit with a one-month suspension.

With good reason. The math doesn’t add up.
