Colorado probationers grapples with new marijuana law

For 15 years, medical marijuana has been legal in Colorado — but not for those on probation. The law has been tested at legal heights reaching the Colorado Court of Appeals. In the 2012 case People v. Watkins, the court ruled that offenses found to be illegal under federal law qualify as violations of probation. It also ruled that no Colorado law protects against prohibiting probationers from using pot — not even Amendment 20, which legalized medical use of marijuana in 2000.

NJ medical marijuana patients in danger of losing jobs

Colorado's Supreme Court has decided that workers who use marijuana for medical reasons can be fired.

Patients in New Jersey's medical marijuana program are also at risk of losing their jobs.

Ken Wolski, who leads the Coalition for Medical Marijuana in New Jersey, said Colorado's decision is consistent with court rulings in other states holding that medical marijuana users can be fired for using the drug when they're off the job. That's not fair, said Wolski.

Fired pot user vows: I will change the law

The former Dish Network employee who was fired for using medical marijuana says he has plenty of free time on his hands - and will use it to crusade for changes in the law.

The Colorado Supreme Court ruled Monday that the satellite service provider had the right to terminate Brandon Coats for testing positive for marijuana, even though medical pot is legal in the state.

The 35-year-old Coats, who was left 85% paralyzed by a car accident 20 years ago, now says he will turn to lobbying the state legislature to pass a law that will explicitly protect employees who fail drug tests because of medical marijuana use.

New Zealand: Nelson teen 'calm and settled' after cannabis oil treatment

Alex Renton, the Nelson teen in a coma whose supporters fought to grant him access to cannabis oil medication, is responding to treatment, his mother says.

Alex, 19, has now received two doses of Elixinol, a cannabidiol (CBD) product from the United States, and mother Rose Renton told ONE News he was "calm and settled" following the second treatment.

The family hopes an electroencephalogram (or EEG - a test to measure electrical brain activity) with show positive progress later this week, and that Alex's sedation can be reduced further.

Alex is suffering from a prolonged form of seizure, known as epilepticus, and has been in Wellington Hospital since early April.

Doctors have tried more than 20 mediations to treat him, but none have worked.

Parkinson's And Cannabis

Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a motor system disorder classified as a progressive neurological disease which occurs when neurons in the basal ganglia degenerate, causing a shortage of dopamine production. This results in the impairments in movement associated with the disease. Parkinson’s typically affects men over 60, but — as Michael J. Fox has unfortunately proven — can afflict significantly younger adults.

Marijuana just might see a new home this year in the BIG APPLE

Medicinal cannabis pictured. Analysts believe that this bill would go forward even farther and result in the commercial consumption and sales of the drug.

Several states in America including Washington, Colorado and Alaska have legalized the consumption of Marijuana on the grounds of research and several studies which suggest that if consumed in moderation the drug famously known as “Weed” does not cause any lasting mental or physical health issues.

Marijuana advocates have been putting forward an argument saying that alcohol if consumed excessively poses the similar dangers as Marijuana yet it commercially available, therefore authorities should also legalize Marijuana.
