Cannabis & menopause

The endocannabinoid system has a fundamental role to play in all aspects of female fertility, from initial fecundity, to implantation of the developing embryo into the endometrium, to delivery of endocannabinoids via breast milk. As well as all this, the EC system also has a vital role in the cessation of fertility.

Symptoms of the perimenopause

During the perimenopause, which typically occurs between 45 and 55 years of age, various unpleasant and occasionally debilitating symptoms occur. These symptoms can be roughly divided into three types: vaginal/uterine; other physical; and psychological.

War veterans suffering from PTSD are using medical marijuana — Here's why

Patients who suffer from mental disorders such as PTSD also suffer from a long-standing stigma of abusing marijuana.

This problem has many American veterans fighting another battle — this time for safe access — as more emerging research suggests that cannabis effectively treat, or even possibly cure PTSD.

Studies conducted both in America and abroad have found strong evidence to support the use of marijuana-derived substances such as THC and CBD to have a positive effect on PTSD symptoms.

First Maryland medical marijuana clinic open in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — The first specialty clinic for medical marijuana opened in Annapolis in June and has seen more than 100 prospective patients — even though the Maryland Medical Cannabis Program isn’t expected to be operational for another year.

Greenway Consultation, located in the Conte Lubrano Office Building, has three consultants and three physicians, who are not yet registered to recommend the drug through the Maryland Medical Cannibis Commission. The commission develops and oversees all licensing, registration, inspection and testing.

The clinic’s spokesman Nick Petrucci said opening in advance of the program has advantages, such as beginning to build the patient-doctor relationship to expedite a recommendation for marijuana when the program begins.

Hundreds Of Veterans Line Up For Free Marijuana In Show Of Protest

DENVER (CBS4) – Hundreds of Colorado veterans waited in a long line in Denver on Saturday for free cannabis products.

The free handouts were set up as a sign of protest to a decision by the state’s health board not to allow post-traumatic-stress disorder as a treatable condition for medical marijuana.

The cannabis giveaway was set up by Grow4Vets founder Roger Martin and Todd Mitchem, CEO of a company called High There! — a sort of social networking tool for pot users.

Albany County scores big in marijuana sweepstakes

Albany County is suddenly set to become an epicenter of New York's budding medical marijuana industry.

On Friday, the state Department of Health granted five licenses to companies that will be allowed to grow and sell medicinal marijuana in New York. Each company is allowed to open four dispensaries — for a total of 20 statewide — and Albany County landed three of them.

Onondaga County also landed three. By contrast, the five boroughs of New York City will get a total of four dispensaries.

The dispensaries are expected to be in Albany's warehouse district, and in the towns of Colonie and Guilderland.

In addition, two manufacturing facilities where the product will be produced will be sited in the greater Capital Region, in Fulton and Warren counties.

Medical marijuana industry growing in Illinois

Two years ago, medical marijuana became legal in Illinois. No patients have received treatments yet, but people are investing millions of dollars in the industry.

North of Rochelle, a big building looms over the fields of corn. Soon, marijuana will be grown inside. One of 18 state-licensed marijuana cultivation centers, the facility is the second one run by Pharmacannis. In Dwight, the growing process has begun.

Cameras are not allowed inside.

Qualified medical marijuana patients will buy their products from a dispensary in an Ottawa strip mall. That dispensary will likely be one of the first to open since the Compassionate Care Act was signed by Gov. Pat Quinn.

The high road – An Irishwoman’s Diary on medicinal cannabis

Last time I got stoned was by accident, I swear . . . I was at a Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in Golden Gate Park, listening to Loudon Wainwright. A vendor in pink frills passed with a tray of chocolate truffles. For $2.50 they looked delicious and couldn’t be spiked, could they?

Alice-in-Wonderland-like, I took a bite and felt okay. And ate more. Big mistake. It’s the notorious no-no with pot “edibles” that happens only to idiots. Unlike swifter-acting “joints,” edibles absorb slowly and erratically. Some time later, I was kisser-down in the grass and a) paralysed, b) paranoid, and c) feeling so silly. I couldn’t locate my head, let alone my phone.
