Same-Day Medical Marijuana Delivery Service Launches in Calgary

It’s door-to-door delivery at decidedly high speed.

Aurora Cannabis Inc., which operates Alberta’s only licensed industrial medical marijuana producer, announced Tuesday that customers in Calgary and surrounding communities will be able to get same-day delivery of the drug used to combat a variety of ailments.

Cam Battley, Aurora’s senior vice-president of communications and medical affairs, said Alberta has quickly become the second largest per capita base of medical marijuana users in Canada, with some 3,000 patients now registered with the company since its launch in January.

“It’s growing so fast it’s taking people’s breath away,” he said of the demand that’s prompted the expedited delivery model.

Medical marijuana growers in Oregon flying under radar

Only a handful of medical marijuana growers have applied for Jackson County permits to keep growing on rural residential land — even though growers without permits face fines of up to $10,000 and orders to remove their plants.

Most are flying under the radar, hoping to avoid detection rather than pay the $1,563 permit application fee, the Mail Tribune reported.

Jackson County has received only seven applications from growers hoping to be grandfathered in by qualifying for a pre-existing, non-conforming use permit.

“It isn’t many. It’s a lot less than I had anticipated,” said Jackson County Development Services Director Kelly Madding.

Use of medical marijuana reignites debate in Barbados

Debate has reignited over the highly emotive issue of Barbados’ stance on marijuana use, including for medical purposes.

It comes as an attorney-at-law awaits word from the Minister of Health on an application for his sick wife to use the drug based on a prescription obtained from a doctor in Canada.

At a panel discussion staged by the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, that lawyer, Douglas Trotman said the laws of Barbados permit marijuana to be used on a permit granted by the minister.

“From 1993 research could have been carried out in Barbados,” he said.

Cannabis Industry Unexpected Boost For Alberta's Struggling Economy

It's an unexpected shot in the arm for Alberta's struggling economy. And it's about as unlikely as it gets.

Alberta's only industrial-scale grower of medical marijuana, Aurora Cannabis, just served notice that business is booming. The company now has well over 2,000 customers, beginning from a standing start in January.

Prior to that, Aurora had to wait for the issuance of a sales licence from Health Canada. And that wasn't forthcoming until Aurora's crops had undergone extensive laboratory testing for quality control by an independent, licensed third party.

Cannabis's Unique Relationship with Anxiety

Information that could help you cope.

"I don’t like hallucinating anymore,” my partner lamented.

I hugged him and proceeded to take a bath. He curled up on the bed, smiling and staying warm.

“Can’t we just have some CBD and come down?” he mumbled through heavy birch walls.

After my bath I squirted a few droppers of Luminous Botanicals Earth Blend under his tongue, and watched him carefully as he swished it around like mouthwash, letting it rest in his mouth before swallowing it down. I swallowed two dropperfuls, too.
