The Need for Non-Opiate Painkillers in the NFL Pushes Cannabis into the Spotlight

Every week, NFL players experience a wide array of injuries that cause them to suffer severe pain. Players equate the impact of play on the field to getting into multiple car accidents in one afternoon. Currently, the most commonly prescribed painkillers are opiate based. Clearly, opiates are addictive and have led to a nationwide epidemic. Over the years, I’ve had players become addicted to opiate based painkillers. Seeking to avoid that tragedy makes it necessary to look for non-addictive alternatives.

New Mexico Legislation Would Add All Veterans to the State's Medical Marijuana Program

Since New Mexico passed their medical marijuana law 10 years ago there hasn’t been much change to them. That is, until now.  A bill just passed the state’s Senate Judiciary Committee that would not only increase the legal limit for marijuana possession and grow operations, but also make it easier for military veterans to access medicinal cannabis.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Senate Bill 8 passed the Senate Judiciary Committee 7-3, falling right across party lines. But even some democrats who helped the bill reach the full senate still aren’t convinced of all the provisions.

Patients Forgotten as Pennsylvania's Cannabis Gold Rush Gets Underway

Zoning Boards across Pennsylvania are passing a flurry of local regulations in an effort to roll out the green carpet for medical cannabis companies.

But these hometown exercises are less about getting warehouses water connections and more about public relations campaigns by businesses to win coveted permits.

During this phase we see how the focus on medical cannabis is really about profit and not necessarily the health of patients.

We've seen it before in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Maryland. It isn't pretty.

GPs Send Dying Australians Underground in Their Search for Medicinal Cannabis

Australian GPs are sending sick and dying patients to black market suppliers of medicinal cannabis because prescribing it legally falls into the too hard basket, Nine.com.au has learned.

There are hundreds of "compassionate suppliers" dotted around Australia - most covert, but some openly – giving cannabis oil away for free, Craig Goodwin told Nine.com.au.

Goodwin, aged 52, a father-of-four and a deacon at his local church on the central NSW coast, has been arrested three times and spent 10 months in a maximum security prison for supplying cannabis oil to people dying of cancer, including young children with brain tumours.

But cannabis may also help in an oft unaddressed area of wellness: women’s sexual health.

Sweden's landmark decision to permit medicinal cannabis, albeit only through oral intake, is widely seen as part of the "green wave" that swept the West in recent years.

Coming home after a long day at work has become synonymous with pouring a big glass of wine, but is this long-held American tradition changing?

California-based medical marijuana technology company Eaze just released a new report which shows that alcohol drinkers in California are turning to marijuana as a safer, more natural alternative for alleviating everyday stress.

Many people would typically open a bottle of post-work wine around 7 p.m., but, according to the 2016 report from Eaze, orders for medical marijuana spiked nightly at the same time.
