Why marijuana should not be banned for athletes

The USA Track & Field (USATF) confirmed on Tuesday that the Olympic hopeful Sha’Carri Richardson will not compete in Tokyo after testing positive for THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. Since the 30-day suspension of the Breakout Sprinter was announced on Friday, celebrities and lawmakers, including US Congressman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, have come to her defense to give the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) a stance of designating marijuana. Calling for reassessment as a banned substance, and for USATF to compete with Richardson.

WADA, which sets anti-doping guidelines for sports organizations around the world, bans substances that can improve performance, pose risks to athletes, or “violate the spirit of sports.”

Canada Leads the Way on Cannabis And Mental Health in the Workplace

Since 2018, Cannabis has become a legal psychoactive substance in Canada. Since then we've seen progressive reforms. So progressive that some workplaces now permit the use of cannabis during office hours.

Seeing cannabis and the workplace in the same sentence might seem weird. However, it's the truth. Not all cannabis strains make the consumer couch-locked. Some induce a productive streak in the worker. It is commendable that some workplaces have decided to take advantage of this fact.

Some corporations may soon allow the consumption of a strain of pot during office hours, but this can only be done if the strain has been proven to have very little effect on reducing productivity levels.

Opinion: Health experts say cannabis link to suicide not cut and dried

People who use marijuana are more likely to have suicidal thoughts. That’s the latest round of anti-pot propaganda coming from a couple of bodies of research published over the last two months.

It’s enough to scare parents worried about their kids getting wrapped up in the novelty of weed and then being carted off to a very dark place. However, health professionals say the link between the consumption of cannabis and increased suicidal behaviour is not that cut and dried.

9 Science-Backed Benefits Of CBD Oil

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a chemical compound found in the cannabis sativa plant. When applied topically or consumed through smoke inhalation or edible consumption, CBD interacts with neuroreceptors in your endocannabinoid system, which sends signals between your cells to help regulate your movement, mood, homeostasis and immune system.

CBD is often extracted from the cannabis sativa plant in oil form and mixed with an inert carrier oil like hemp seed oil for consumption. In recent years, CBD oil has skyrocketed in popularity thanks to its purported calming effects. It can now be found in a range of products from simple oil tinctures to CBD-infused potato chips.

CBD research is growing, too. Here are nine ways studies suggest CBD oil could benefit your health.
