The Last Frontier took its place as one of the first on the cannabis-legalization frontier, becoming one of just four states and the District of Columbia that have legalized use and possession of the plant, when the state’s voters passed Ballot Measure 2 during the November 2014 elections.

Legalize medical marijuana in Wyoming

CHEYENNE - Voters could decide next year whether medical marijuana will be legal in Wyoming.

Activists have filed paperwork with the state which, if approved, would let them begin a signature-gathering campaign to get an initiative on the 2016 general election ballot to legalize medical marijuana.

The Wyoming chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws is sponsoring the citizen-led effort.

The group submitted its initiative application to the secretary of state's office on Monday, which was also 4/20 - the unofficial national holiday for marijuana enthusiasts and supporters.

The 13-page application is essentially the group's proposal in the form of a legislative bill.

Nevada Senate Passes Limited Industrial Marijuana Farming Bill

Nevada senators have approved a measure allowing for colleges or the state agriculture department to grow industrial hemp.

Lawmakers voted unanimously on Monday to approve Senate Bill 305. The bill now moves to the Assembly.

Democratic Sen. Tick Segerblom is sponsoring the measure, which would allow governmental bodies to cultivate industrial hemp for agricultural or research purposes.

The bill was amended to remove language allowing private growers to cultivate hemp. The state agriculture department cautioned in a fiscal note that Nevada's climate isn't ideal for growing hemp and that the original bill could run into federal regulatory hurdles.

Should dagga be legal?

Today isn’t just any Monday – it’s April 20th. Despite the large number of South Africans who celebrate 420, marijuana is illegal in South Africa. Here are some views on the legalisation of cannabis in South Africa.

According to Jeremy Acton, the leader of The Dagga Party of South Africa, cannabis can be used as an energy resource and as an alternative to fossil fuels. “South Africa is on the edge of an irreversible energy and resource crisis that could easily be alleviated by legalising cannabis to allow megascale production of carbon as an alternative to fossil carbon,” Acton said to Connect.

Glasgow cannabis rally offers smoke, politics and croissants

Noone seemed quite sure of the reason why this annual gathering in support of reform of the drug laws is called 420 day, but most of those present seemed pretty relaxed about it.

This included the police, who detained two people early in the afternoon but thereafter kept their presence low key, with a male and a female officer strolling past the stalls and temporary stage periodically in the sunshine.

Twenty years ago the attitude of the police would have been far less relaxed towards yesterday's (mon) gathering, which was part of World Cannabis Week.

Where the 2016 presidential candidates stand on marijuana

It’s April 20th or 4/20, a day when marijuana enthusiasts gather, legally or otherwise, to celebrate the joys of smoking pot — a sort of stoner Fourth of July.

Last year, President Barack Obama gave weed activists a boost when he said he considers marijuana no more dangerous than alcohol.
