The Major Way Israel Is Putting America to Shame on Marijuana

Crowds from around the globe flocked to Tel Aviv in March for the second annual CannaTech conference. The summit was aimed at attracting fledgling marijuana ventures to the country and included speakers from medicine, politics, science, agriculture, and investments.

“Everything is set up here to be the epicenter of cannabis research,” organizer Clifton Flack told Quartz.

Why medical marijuana research is blossoming in Israel.

The Israeli government's stance on medical marijuana research and the country's cultural landscape make it far friendlier to marijuana than the puritanical policies of the U.S. government.

In the Weeds: The Cannabis Industry Needs Accountants

This year, the major accounting technology conference Accountex (formerly SleeterCon) happened concurrently – and down the street from – the largest cannabis industry conference in the United States, the Marijuana Business Conference and Expo. Seemingly an unrelated coincidence, the timing turned out to be kismet: Accountex attendee Penny Breslin, a financial technology consultant based in San Diego, found herself fielding questions from Expo attendees asking whether she “knew any good accountants.”

Marijuana Stock: Is the Pot Industry on the Verge of a Bubble?

The wild ride of marijuana stock continues, now with some analysts claiming marijuana stocks are overvalued and headed for a bubble.

With the drug slated to be legalized in Canada in 2017, investors are rolling in, their engines sparked, hoping to take advantage of what some predict to be a multi-billion-dollar industry with 3.8 million recreational marijuana users in Canada by 2021. Factor in that the U.S. cannabis market is projected to rise from $6.0 billion in legal states in 2015 to $50.0 billion in 2026 according to data from Cowen & Co, and you have a lot of zeroes luring investors into marijuana stocks.

But for others, they’re worried that it could all just be smoke.

High art: how the creative world is helping legal weed rebrand itself

It’s July 2016. At Los Angeles art gallery Blum and Poe – the same venue that hosted Kanye West’s Famous sculpture – the air tingles with the sweet smoke of cognac-brined hotdogs and marijuana. Reggae plays on the patio, and the sprinkling of guests seems outnumbered by the security guards hulking against the dusk.

Judge rules to reopen Montana marijuana dispensaries immediately

A judge on Wednesday cleared the way for Montana's medical marijuana dispensaries to reopen after a three-month hiatus by ruling that a drafting error in a voter-approved ballot initiative should not delay the measure's implementation.

District Judge James Reynolds of Helena ruled the error that pushed back the effective date of a key portion of the initiative until July 1 should not keep very ill patients from accessing the drug immediately.

"The folks that are maybe the most in need are the least able to provide, to grow their own," Reynolds said in making his ruling. "I think speed is more important than niceties."
