Israel's Together signs $300 mln Canadian cannabis deal

Israel’s Together said on Thursday it signed a binding two-year deal worth at least $300 million to supply cannabis products to an unnamed Canadian company.

The Canadian firm will buy from Together subsidiary Globus Pharma 5 to 50 tonnes of dried cannabis inflorescences in 2019, which is equivalent to 500 kilograms to 5 tonnes of medical cannabis oil.

In 2020, the company, which has a licence to grow, manufacture and import medical cannabis in Canada, will buy another 20 to 50 tonnes of dried flowers, or up to 5 tonnes of cannabis oil.

It will pay at least $3 for 1 gram of dried inflorescences, or a minimum of $30,000 for 1 kg of cannabis oil, Together said.

Canada approved medical pot in 2001 and will legalize recreational use by July.

The Cannabis Landscape - Chapter 4

For long-term success, cannabis companies need to adopt technology as a critical capability.

Entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry are moving at warp speed to get their businesses up and running in time for the Canadian government’s legalization of adult-use cannabis, creating billions of dollars of value in the process. Most companies however, have failed to implement appropriate technology strategies during this boom, putting much of that equity at risk.

Aphria CEO 'handcuffed' by proposed cannabis advertising laws, supports some Senate suggestions

Vic Neufeld says advertising is the biggest barrier for his company going forward.

As the bill that will introduce the legalization of cannabis in Canada gets noodled around in Ottawa, one marijuana mogul said there's only one major barrier he's watching.

"One very simple one, and that's advertising."

Vic Neufeld is the CEO of Aphria — one of Canada's largest cannabis producers with facilities located in Leamington, Ont. His company has been expanding its medicinal and recreational cannabis production abilities, so he's been watching closely as Bill C-45 makes its way through the Senate and back to the House.

The Liberal government and the Senate may be in the midst of a battle that further delays the legalization of recreational marijuana, but Cannabis NB is good to go with at least of one its stores.

The one in the north end of Saint John is now complete. Once the date for legalization is announced, Cannabis NB can stock the products and train the staff to be ready for opening day.

The Cannabis Landscape - Chapter 3

To create value, cannabis companies will need to navigate their way through a maze of possibilities.

As outlined in Chapter 2 of our series, building a successful business in the emerging cannabis sector begins with the creation of a coherent strategy for sustainable and profitable growth. However, a winning game plan alone is not enough. A company needs a combination of processes, tools, knowledge, skills and behaviours that rivals can’t match. An enterprise’s competitive position rests on this reinforcing system of differentiated and high-performing capabilities which management can leverage in pursuit of strategic paths.

This marijuana value stock just got a little bigger

More cannabidiol oil production? Yes, please!

The Canadian marijuana industry is budding before our eyes, and last week's historic Senate vote is proof of this occurring. With a landslide vote of 56 in favor and only 30 against, Canada's Senate approved the Cannabis Act, sending the bill back to the House of Commons for confirmation. It's all but a formality at this point that adult-use cannabis will soon be legal in our neighbor to the north.

For marijuana stock investors, the legalization of marijuana in Canada means one thing: dollar signs. Legalization means the addition of up to $5 billion in annual revenue on top of what the industry is already generating from domestic medical cannabis sales and exports to foreign countries where medical weed is legal.
