Fed up of digging around for their plastic-wrapped drug of choice and rolling papers, two women designed odour-blocking bags and clutches with pockets for pipes and other paraphernalia

The idea came to the two friends because “we are fashionable women of means” who cared that all the stuff in their lives - the shoes, handbags, clothes, sunglasses - properly reflected who they are.

Their accessories spoke of their professional success and their grown-up sophistication. And it had become incredibly aggravating to have to pull out little plastic bags and dig around for a crumpled package of rolling paper every time they wanted to smoke a joint. There had to be a better way.

Eaze, a cannabis delivery startup often called the "Uber of weed," launched an app on Monday that allows users in California to connect with physicians for medicinal marijuana evaluations via video chat. It's the first app of its kind to hit both Apple and Google's app stores.

The launch of EazeMD, which previously operated as a desktop-only site, brings even more convenience to a process that was — before the recent growth of internet-based marijuana startups — quite arduous. 

"Eaze's core mission is to provide the easiest, quickest, most professional way for qualified patients to get access to medicine, in this case, cannabis," Keith McCarty, CEO and founder of Eaze, tells Tech Insider.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is quickly changing the debate surrounding the use of marijuana as a medicine.

Most people have heard of a chemical called THC, which is the ingredient in marijuana that gets users high. But recently, attention has shifted to another compound in marijuana called CBD — and for good reason.

Benjamin Hubert's London studio Layer has designed a modular screen system made up of triangular hemp tiles for Australian textile company Woven Image (+ slideshow).

The Scale system relies on a hexagonal framework that is constructed from individual three-pronged thermoplastic sections. These join together to create a base for the covering fabric tiles, and rest on oval aluminium feet.

Weed on the web isn't unheard of. The issue may still be touchy for some, but the ways in which you can get legal marijuana are emerging faster than ever before. Even big wigs from major tech companies are looking at ways to capitalize on the growing popularity of the feel-good substance, and at least one group within the 420-friendly business is making its approval and distribution process both simpler and cheaper for applicants.

When AJ Gentile, his wife Jennifer and his brother Gene started making marijuana-infused gummy bears in 2011, the cannabis laws of California were more like guidelines than detailed regulations. “We did everything by the book,” said AJ, “but we were always worried a squad in blue FBI or DEA windbreakers would burst through the door to put us out of business and throw us in jail.”

Bad news for cannabis users, the new marijuana breathalyzer may be available as soon as next year for clinical trials according to Cannabis Culture on Saturday. It looks like a modern invention may make it easier for police to determine if a driver is marijuana impaired on the spot.

What: Ahead of data from trials evaluating its marijuana-derived therapies for the treatment of epilepsy, shares in GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH) increased by 10.5% in November.

So what: Perhaps no other company is as focused on using marijuana to develop medicine as GW Pharmaceuticals.

The company already has one THC drug, Sativex, on the European market as a treatment for multiple sclerosis muscle spasms. GW's marijuana studies include the evaluation of the marijuana cannabidiol CBD for the treatment of Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, two rare forms of epilepsy.
