4/20, Your 4/20: "Don't blame the police for doing their job"

The parallels between the injustices felt by the British during the Blitz and the persecution of cannabis smokers on 4/20 are plentiful, if a comparison is not too bold to propose. 

Acclaimed British author of Nineteen Eighty-Four, George Orwell, wrote many pieces on the topics of war, oppression, poverty, social injustice and inequalities throughout his life. The most poignant example of his social commentary must be the opening of his essayEngland, Your England, which he penned whilst German bombers were flying overhead during the Blitz in 1941. 

Today, cannabis smokers in non-legalized territories are going to feel serendipity between liberation and oppression, the kind of emotion that can only exist in the face of police presence against a mob of unified beliefs. And, although the arresting officers may be indifferent to cannabis use, they will have to arrest those who are breaking the law because it's their job.
