Parkinson's Disease is a Nightmare Full of Nightmares and One Women is Waking Up

Through unfailing commitment — and a little luck — Helen Garvy stumbled upon a possible solution buried in a particular strain of cannabis. In doing so, she very well may have found an end to the living nightmares.

[The] most important results [of cannabis] are to be found in the mental sphere; as, for instance, in Senile Insomnia with wandering. An elderly person (perhaps with brain softening), is fidgety at night, goes to bed, gets up, thinks he has some appointment to keep, that he must dress and go out. Day, with its stimuli and real occupations, finds him quite rational again. Nothing can compare in utility to a moderate dose of Indian hemp at bedtime.

Five former presidents demand an end to the war on drugs

AS THE drug war has rumbled on, with little to show for all the money and violence, its critics have become a more diverse bunch than the hippies and libertarians who first backed drug reform. The latest broadside against prohibition was fired on March 24th by a group of former heads of state and businesspeople, who put forward a sober case for rethinking the international approach to drug control.

The top pot-loving countries

Marijuana legalization has been a political issue in the United States for some time, and while it remains illegal in most states, others have softened their stance in recent years. Colorado and Washington both passed initiatives by popular vote to decriminalize and legalize cannabis in 2012. In 2014, Oregon, Alaska and Washington, D.C., followed suit. Many states including Massachusetts, California, Missouri, Hawaii, Maine, Nevada and Ohio have flirted with legalization for a few election cycles, with buzz growing.

The United States isn't the only country where people use marijuana legally or illicitly. In fact, it isn’t even the country with the highest reported marijuana use.

What Happened to Brazil's Ruling on Drug Decriminalization?

Despite news last year suggesting Brazil's Supreme Court would rule imminently on whether the country should decriminalize low-level possession and use of drugs, all seems to have gone quiet. What happened?

In August 2015, we were among those who published such articles, noting how the Supreme Court were discussing decriminalization against the backdrop of a growing chorus of voices calling for drug law reform. After the first three of the Court's 11 justices voted in favor of decriminalization in September, all looked set to move forward.

Higher Ground: You can’t put the smoke back in the bong

There is little doubt in my mind that marijuana — cannabis, weed, pot, ganja, skunk, bud, herb, sticky icky, mota (in Mexico), le shit (in France), whatever you want to call it — is on the road to legalization. There are a lot of reasons for that. One of them is the changes taking place around the world.

Brazil highway police seize 24.5 tons of marijuana

Brazil's Federal Highway Police seized 24.5 tons of marijuana in a truck that evidently entered the country from Paraguay, a record drug seizure for the institution, authorities reported Tuesday.

To date, the largest seizure of pot made by the Highway Police had been 21.5 tons in 2010, and the total amount seized so far in 2015 had been 4.5 tons, the institution said in a communique.

The shipment was intercepted on Monday afternoon on a highway in the southern state of Parana, which borders on Argentina and Paraguay, but the size of the haul was only determined on Tuesday after authorities weighed it.
