Montana marijuana industry sorting through laws
The president of a pro-marijuana group said there is confusion for many medical marijuana users and providers, after the Montana Supreme Court issued its ruling two weeks ago.
Last week, the Montana Cannabis Information Association asked the court to reconsider its ruling that left nearly all of a law passed by the legislature in 2011 intact and to delay implementation of that law until April of 2017.
The filing states "hundreds of caregivers will be immediately subject to criminal prosecution and over 10,000 patients will be scrambling to find alternative sources for marijuana."
The restrictions, passed five years ago, say medical marijuana vendors can have only three customers and cannot advertise their products. According to the association, many in Montana have been using medical marijuana and need time for a transition.
