Figuring out the demand for product in a particular area determines so much about one's business, according to Kayvan Khalatbari, founding partner at Denver Relief Consulting. Once someone knows how much marijuana they should grow and/or sell, they can establish how much room they will need for their establishment.

Scout out potential properties

"This can be difficult when fewer licenses are available and there is high competition for the building," Khalatbari said. "If you're leasing a space, the landlord needs to understand what it will be used for. There's a lot of education that needs to take place."
