ResponsibleOhio seeks answers for why Issue 3, marijuana legalization failed

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio voters last week soundly rejected a proposal to legalize marijuana, but the nearly 2-to-1 vote left unanswered questions about why voters rebuffed the plan.

Was Issue 3's monopoly on growing to blame? Or did Ohioans just say no to recreational marijuana?

Costly exit polls weren't conducted, but Issue 3 supporters are now seeking answers through a survey on its website.

Student Film About Marijuana In Amsterdam Accepted To Film Festival

How have you been spending the past year? Perhaps you’ve met a few friends, joined some new clubs, and slogged your way through a couple of classes. But you probably didn’t spend the last twelve months working on a documentary about the marijuana industry abroad — that is, unless, you’re film student Shane Robinson.

Last November, Robinson was accepted into a May-mester class offered by the College of Communications. This class culminated in a week-long trip to Amsterdam. This expedition was no vacation, however. This class’ students spent plenty of their time researching potential topics and resources, months in advance.”I began researching this documentary last November,” Robinson said. “And I just added the finishing touches to it about two weeks ago.”

Light It Up, Ganja Time In Negril

WESTERN BUREAU: For some long-time residents of Negril, this week's Cannabis Cup, which is being staged as an integral part of the inaugural Rastafari Rootz Fest, is a classic case of dÈj‡ vu for the resort town.

According to the residents, the event, which will be staged at Long Beach Park between Thursday and Sunday, evokes memories of the 1960s when ganja-

loving hippies from North American would descend on Negril to indulge in their free-living passion - smoking ganja in a relaxed environment.

20% of Canadians smoked pot last year, but more than 30% would if legal, poll suggests

Almost two out of every 10 Canadians reported having consumed marijuana in the past year, but more than 30 per cent of poll respondents said they would do so in the next year if it were legal.

That was one of the main takeaways of a recent poll on the issue conducted by Forum Research. Forum did a telephone poll with a random sampling of 1,256 Canadians between Nov. 4-7. The poll is considered to have a margin or error of plus or minus three per cent, 19 times out of 20.

Members of the new Liberal government, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, have spoken about their desire to modernize the laws surrounding pot by decriminalizing its use, or even going as far as legalizing it.

Group helps pot smokers come out to their Asian-American parents

It was hard for Tiffany Wu to tell her conservative, first-generation Chinese American parents she was quitting her high-paying job at a Silicon Valley law firm. It was even harder for the Harvard Law School grad to tell them that she was quitting so she could advise clients in the cannabis industry — and that she smokes weed regularly.

Wu’s childhood friend Monica Lo, a creative director at a San Francisco startup, got the same horrified reaction when she came out of what she calls “the green closet” to her first-generation Chinese American parents about the same time earlier this year.

Attention, hippies! There’s an official Jimi Hendrix-brand cannabis vaporiser

Guitar warlord Jimi Hendrix was frequently photographed with a gigantic bifter dangling from his mouth – and his appetite for hard drugs was so legendary that, er, he died age 27.

Now you can enjoy that legacy with an official Hendrix-branded cannabis-vaping ‘HazeStick’.

Well, semi-official at least – they’re endorsed by the guitarist’s brother, Leon Hendrix, and sold in American states where dope is legal.

The vaporisers are being sold under licence in the US by JackSam corporation – and can be used with weed or cannabis oil.

UK: Cannabis convictions plummet by more than a quarter in Buckinghamshire

However, number of people admitting to using cannabis in the South East has gone up

The number of people caught with cannabis has fallen by more than a quarter in four years in Buckinghamshire.

There were 874 cannabis possession offences recorded in the county back in 2011/12.

That compared to 634 in 2014/15 - the last full year's worth of figures.

This makes a fall of 27.5 per cent in four years.

The number of people admitting to cannabis use in the South East has actually gone up very slightly over this same four-year time period.

Some 6.9% of people in the region told the Home Office they had used the drug in a survey in 2014/15.

Marijuana "wax," or "dab," on the rise in South West Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. - A new drug is on the rise in Southwest Florida, and experts say it isn't going anywhere.

It's a form of highly concentrated marijuana that you smoke, but it's disguised.

It's called "wax," because of the way it looks, and is also known as "dab" or "budder."

"A couple of my friends have talked to me about it. They usually say that it's really strong. I guess it gives them a better high or something out of it," 21-year-old Toby Williams said.

The "wax" is highly concentrated THC, the ingredient in marijuana that gets you high, solidified to be smoked and vaped.

It's biggest draw is that it's very hard to detect.
