Judge: ‘I would not be able to live with myself if I sent you to prison’ - The High Community (THC)

“You know that ordinarily a custodial sentence would be considered and might even be inevitable for this sort of offence but I would not be able to live with myself if I sent you to prison,” said Judge William Hart.

It would seem the justice system are having a change of Hart after a man was caught growing cannabis twice to treat his throat, damaged after undergoing radiation treatment.

This man was a humble 65 year old called Jonathan Yates, diagnosed for tongue cancer a few years back. He went on to go through dangerous radiation treatment for the cancer which left his throat badly damaged and in pain every day.

A 65-year-old cancer sufferer who used cannabis to relieve his pain said he is grateful to a judge for showing him humanity and letting him walk free from court.

Jonathan Yates is in remission from his throat cancer, but the damage done through radiation treatment has left him unable to eat solid foods, smell and taste and be in constant pain.

The granddad, who has been ill for three years, pleaded guilty to producing the class B drug at his Moorfield Road home in Brockworth.

Marijuana Compound May Slow, Halt Alzheimer’s

Extremely low levels of the compound in marijuana known as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, may slow or halt the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, a recent study from neuroscientists at the University of South Florida shows.

 

Findings from the experiments, using a cellular model of Alzheimer’s disease, were reported online in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Daily Telegraph Judged 'Inaccurate, Misleading And Distorted' On Cannabis Reporting

The Press Complaints Commission (PCC) has upheld CLEAR's complaint about The Daily Telegraph's appalling misreporting in April 2014 of a study on the brains of cannabis users.

The newspaper claimed falsely that the study showed "Experimenting with cannabis on a casual basis damages the brain permanently". The original complaint can be seen here. A correction has been published in today's edition of the newspaper and the online version of the original article has been amended.
